I'm not quite certain my parents have viewed it as keeping things interesting...
Together this month I think we have taken a few years off their lifespan and added a lot of grey hair. Getting two phone calls in one month that one of your sons has been in an accident and is being taking to a hospital by an ambulance has to be brutal. Especially considering the lack of information they got at first both times.
