Been a casual computer gamer for as long as I can remember, right down to old text based games (similar style to NetHack, but not that game specifically).
It was Wolfenstein 3d that really, really got me into it. And from there, of course, Doom. I vividly remember printing out a huge (~15 pages) guide specifically on Doom for study. "Enemies in Doom are aware...if you fire a weapon and a baddie is nearby, they'll know you're there...even if they can't see you."
I also started getting into the Dungeons and Dragons games. Pool of Radiance and Pools of Darkness, specifically. With a certain amount of embarrasment, my first attempt at hex-editing was creating the Perfect Party in Pools of Darkness. And they were perfect, too. Six members, all dual-class level 39/40 with maxed stats.
*sigh*

ah, there once was a computer game, that forever tainted my opinion of console games, and converted me forever to computer games.
X-WING BABY
Man, I loved that game. I loved it's sequel even more...
TIE FIGHTER
Then, I was introduced to Warcraft II, and was hooked immediately. It looked as though I would be leaving behind my beloved space simulators for the more rugged rts game.
Then, X-WING vs TIE FIGHTER came to the stage! But alas, I was so very, very, very disappointed with the end result, that I did indeed say goodbye to space sims to embrace what is know as Blizzard Entertainment.
I picked up Diablo and had much fun with it. Played Starcraft for heaven knows how long. I kept playing Warcraft II because I couldn't get enough of those stupide Ogre voices.
I tried other rts games, Age of Empires, Command and Conquer...they didn't grab me, so I stuck with Blizzard.
Then, I took a bit of a hiatus from gaming, and therefore missed out on Diablo 2.
When I came back to gaming, my brother Maddeh was working for the makers of Unreal Tournament, and he tried for over a year to get me into that game.
But I was immersed once more into Starcraft, and couldn't give a fps my time - cause, I didn't really like fps's. I had played Doom all the way through, and multiplayer Quake 1 and 2, and even Duke Nukem, but I just got bored with them so fast. I didn't even try out Quake 3 (I did much later though...well, quite recently actually). So I figured UT1 wasn't worth trying, cause they were all the same to me.
Besides, Warcraft III was on the horizon, and I was to be immersed in my favorite fantasy world once again!
But my nagging brother got me to install UT1 somehow...then he got me to play it a few times...I got frustrated because I couldn't beat him...so I played some more...and then some more...I still couldn't beat him...how hard could it be? Some dumb game where you point and shoot? I played more and more...got pretty good...got close to beating him...and then...
Warcraft III came out and UT1 took a backseat baby! :) I played and still play a great deal of Warcraft III...but that UT1 game was in the back of my mind...so I made more time to game, and played more UT1...then UT2k3 came out, and I siezed the moment when a new game came out that everyone would start on the same ground and took my chance to get good before my brother.
We're pretty even now, though he's probably more consitently the better player. But when I'm on a good note, he has a tough time putting me down if he's not on his toes. :)
Then I started dabbling in LAN parties...and playing games like, Battlefield 1942, and mods for it...then, I picked up Rainbow Six 3: Ravenshield and I don't know what happened, but I got right into it.
Now, I like most games...but I don't have enough time to play them! :(

I started out on the PC game Kings Quest. Worked my way back and forth between console and PC games ever since.
As far as FPS games. I started with Quake. And to this day I still think Quake was better than Unreal. But it seems I was outnumbered.
I did not play many games while I was in the navy for 6 years and have recently started up again.
I recently started hanging around PC mod and OC forums and learned that people are having LAN parties. (None of my friends play games much). I found out about the Bellingham LAN from Lanparty.com.

Heh, i forgot tro put where i found out about you guys, i was in EB in the bellis fair mall, browsing the PC and Gamecube sections when i look over at one of the employees going into the back room.
on the door, an intruiging flier with the letters BLE on the top in bright green. i noticed some wiring below, this further peaked my curiosty. then i looked close and noticed that it was about a LAN party, and there it was, the web address for BLE. I hastily scribbled the adress on my arm while purchasing a unviersal rf adapter and took it home to discover this :D

I started playing games on a console Atari 2600--->NES----Sega master system--->SNES---->DX4(Computer)
I was introduced to Duke 3D, as my first FPS. from there that's all I've played. I'm more of a n00b at most games when I play 'cause I'm slowly pulling away from gaming.

Let's see, I've lived in Michigan my whole life, cept for a 1 year stint in Chicago. 25.9 years old (keep hangin on). Learned about these forums from Ender, as he's in LL, which some members of my clan, {KS}, know members of LL.
I've been playing video games since very young. My grandma used to babysit when I was like young, and my uncle had a commodore 64 in the basement that I started to learn how to use (not sure how old I was when I actually started to know how to operate it myself ;) ). He had tons of games, and some we typed in from magazines that he had. He had a few cartridges for it as well.
Been playin vids ever since.
Consoles I've owned/own: Atari 2600, Nintendo, Genesis, Playstation, Nintendo-64, Playstation 2.
Comps I've had: 486SX/25MHz (Windows 3.1), P3 450MHz (Windows 98 ), and my current box: Athlon XP 2600 (Windows XP Pro), G4 PowerBook 1.25Mhz (2 days old).

hi, i'm ghrog, and i have a drinking problem
i was born in floridia, and lived ther for about 4~5 years untill i moved to Conneticut for the summer where i first learned howto play tennis, and i've been playing tennis evar sence, but not consitantly, this was also about the first time i was introduced to videogame systems like sega genisis and nintendo ES. then after that we moved back to florida for a little then up to Georgia I went. While in Georgia I missed florida for most of the time there, and in 5th grade i was the winnar of the 1999 Natl' Elementry Doubles Chess Championship. I played some more tennis and went to skool there, this is also about the time I was introduced to LAN parties and computer games (two player doom, wooohhoooo!) (all of this happening pre-99 though).
Tehn in 1999ish we moved up here (me being in 7th grade) to seattle (not bellingham yet) and middle skool sucked. Then I spent 2 years at Shorecrest High Skool, in shoreline washington, but the teachers there sucked (most of them), so skool sucked. (I had a white racist japanese teacher that was racist tward white people, go figura. also i had a teacher publicly burn me for no infraction).
then i moved up here last summer and let the good times roll, bellingham is a koo place, and people here aren't as mean as the east costers and not as high as the people in seattle, so yay!!!!
been playing CS sence 7th grade, and sence then have only really enjoyed main stream FPS (quake, hl, unreal recently, halo, rtcw)
also played some UO and very little EQ (drugs are bad)
currently enrolled in sehome high, play on their tennis, chess, and maybe their baseball team (don't know if i want to play bb) but goto wcc full time, and yikes i have to goto klass!!!!!
i also goto ender's church ;)

I guess I'll add to this. I'm Logan. Been into gaming since I was in...hmm preschool??? We had an old atari, then we got an NES when I was in kindergarten. Then the SNES. Next I started playing games on my cousin's Turbo Duo(which I recently acquired from him!), then N64, Gameboy, VirtualBoy,GBcolor, then GBadvance, Gamecube, now I've got an Xbox and the Turbo Duo. That's my console career.
PC's.... I've been playing games since 3rd grade I think... somewhere back in 88 or 89. My dad had a one of the first true laptops(just after luggables). Tiny b/w screen. I played Qbert and Bounce the Baby(or whatever it was called). Then we got a PC just after that and I started playing other games. NFS, TestDrive, and a game that to this day I would like to find another copy of "Death Tracks". I think it was made by Atari. I loved that game! Anyways, now I'm mainly into console gaming. I like racing games, FPS, and snowboarding/skateboaring/bmx games.
Soo. I'm 22, going to WCC and hating it. I remember now why I moved back to Cali when I graduated. I hate school! I miss my old job as a network admin. Good money, lots of free time, awesome people.

Hey Deezee, post here later.
Anyhooo I am a something-year-old student at WCC, and I have been gaming for . . . .I guess about 5 years now. I actually started on PCs, only it was one of those 486 green-and-black mofos. Then I met Itsmeee who made me get interested in computers, so I "built" (more like destroyed) a 230 mhz Piece OF Shit. In fact I named it that, Piece Of Shit. Anyway, on that mother I could play pretty much . . .. nothing. But, I did manage to get my grubby little hands on games like Unreal (which I hated), Dark Forces, Jedi Knight, and C and C Red Alert. I would pretty much play anything that you could give me. But now I am an FPS guys, and don't really play anything else. Raven Shield is my beloved, and I will never be turned!
Oh, and Itsmeee told me about the first BLE LAN and I came with him. Now I am stuck there and YOU CAN'T GET RID OF ME!!!
Ooooo yeah, something you didn't know. Weeeeeell, my foot got run over by vehicles 4 times.

Hmm, most of you guys are older than I expected. It will be cool to meet y'all at the next lan. =)
I'm 21 years old, my name is Gabe, and I'm a Geology major at WWU finishing up my last two quarters. I'm also minoring in Spanish and want to enter the peace corps in a Latin American country after I graduate. My big hobbies besides computer games are mountain biking, reading, and camping/backpacking. I used to fish a lot but the stream fishing absolutely sucks on this side of the state (I grew up in Spokane).
I found out about BLE from Ender when we came to the startling discovery one day in IRC that we both live in Bellingham... I actually played UT2k3 with him for quite awhile before I figured it out. And before this thread I had NO idea that he and Madman were brothers! (unless he means that metaphorically? ;))
Here's what I look like when I'm smacking down Ender in UT:

Yes, Madman and I are real life brothers. :) We're also heading to Unreal Expo this year...you wanna come. :)
btw, I resisted the urge to challenge you guys on the tdm ladder on PG. We challenged Area 51 instead cause one of our guys is on their roster for that ladder and not on ours and so there is a natural grudge now. :)

Been living in bellingham for about 12 years, been playing video games since age 5 (zelda, 007 goldeneye , etc.) then started playing Multiplayer ONline FPS at age 8. At age 9 i started to learn how to make websites and made one of my own. And since then my love for computers and anything and everyhting related to them has grown by the day.

liekwhoa... YES? :o
It's way the f*ck on the other side of the country though, right? O_o
I'm sure we'll play you guys UT2k4 style eventually. You and Madman would make a formidable challenge to any two of us, but (and correct me if I'm wrong) I don't think LL has 4 that can stand up to our best 4. ;) However there's only one way to find out! *cough*scrim*cough* :D
Ender
04-11-2004, 12:57 PM
THEN How about your WORST four!!! ;) hehe...I'm sure we'll meet up soon enough, but with my limited gametime and LL being kinda pulled in several directions right now in competition I don't think a scrim is likely to happen in the near future. I'm sure we'll see you on the ladder...just don't get too far ahead of us so we can't challenge you. ;) But I'll see if we can get a scrim again, the last one was fun. :)
I really wanted to challenge you guys (it was you or area 51) but I just had to encourage the grudge match. :D
