There is a White Wolf Changeling the Lost larp going on in Bellingham Washington at Western Washington University, Bond Hall, First floor from 6-10:30pm Every friday. We have been going for over a year. It is a non-cam sanctioned troop, but if your interested just swing by around 5 on friday and we'll help you get your character all set up and integrated. Just tell em Egon sent ya.

As a side note on this: There is one more game on Dec 12th before the game takes a Hiatus until Jan 2nd. I am posting this now as I see no rules against it and it will give you time to flesh out character ideas if you are interested.

If you have any questions about setting or theme feel free to ask me here, via pm or over email at egonboy@gmail.com

Not cosplay, smor. Far, far worse. Think of LARPing as the fictional version of historical reenactment.

Its like live action DnD, with a different numbers system. Or if any of you have seen me out on the boffer field before in cornwall, its mock medival combat with a combat/numbers system and you act out your character.

Boffering is not LARPing. Its mock medieval combat, based on a tag system with padded weapons. There is NO role playing involved whatsoever. It is purely sport, with different gametypes. Such as CTF, TDM, Multi-TDM, and Arena matches.

Okay Larping is live action roleplay. Its not nearly as pathetic as say being addicted to WoW, as it involves actual human contact. It more or less is a merge of Improv theater and Dungeons and Dragons. However the setting we use is in the world of darkness so its a much darker modern world.

Originally I thought LARPing was lame until I gave it a chance and now I actually quite enjoy it. However if you are interested the setting is:

"Taken from your homes, replaced by a cruel mockery of life,
enslaved by inhuman monsters in a land ruled by their
insane whims, forced to do inexplicable and horrendous tasks.
Tortured, abused, and slowly deprived of your humanity, you
too slowly became changed into a monster by both your keeper
and the very world itself. Eventually you escape, only to find the
world has moved on without you.

And this is only the beginning."

Now we don't do the sword fighting crazyness and rather than rolling dice we use cards 1-10 and draw.

I'll stick around if you want to mock it some more go for it but at least make an informed decision.

PirateIvan
12-09-2008, 08:13 AM
I'm interested in the card system as well....

If your character is more powerfull at a particular thing, does that mean you get more 10's in your mini-deck, thus increasing the chance of a win?

egonboy
12-09-2008, 08:27 AM
In most D&D based games you roll a dice and add bonuses.

With this you have cards 1-10 and each of your different skills give you bonuses. If the bonuses + the number you drew = 10 you gain one success toward your action.

So lets say I have 3 int and 3 points in occult when i'm trying to look up stuff on say ghosts I have +6. I draw a 5 which means I have 11 so I have one success. I get some really basic information. If you draw a 10 you draw again and add the two numbers together and if you draw a 1 you fail.

i don't know why, but i feel more cofused.

so you have a skill system set, and the cards add points to that base.

what confuses me is the: "I get some really basic information."

does this mean the purpose is to solve a mystery more then to win in a battle? or is it a combo of the two? do you get to ask a question or do you just get told something?

I'm still so confused with faction exp, honor and BG tokens and where to spend them. I blasted all the way to 60 with my pally then switched to a deathnight and blasted to 80. I had no time for instances, battlegrounds or arenas. My gear sucks. no epics and half are greens. Not to mention with all the PVE I did, guys 5 or 6 levels less than me can still kick my ass.

But I did start trying some battlegrounds yesterday and had a blast. I guess I just have to figure out which ones offer the gear I want and start trying to earn tokens there.

No chance of transfering right now. Playing with a couple guys from work. just wish we had a bigger group. I'm going to try and convince them we need to drop our small guild we formed and join a larger guild so we can get into some larger raids. But they are not quite to 80 yet. and similarly geared.

I might start a new one on your server. The leveling is a lot faster now than when when WOW was new.

Yeah - The first couple months after hitting the level cap can be really overwhelming because there's just so much to do. A good start imo is to catch up on professions and play the auction house with whatever you have. There's always tons of money to be made off of morons who are powerleveling new professions with the expansion! Another idea would be to check out the new faction pages on wowhead, and see if you can find some gear you want. Once you're friendly with said faction (you should be with just about any of them after a couple quests which you've probably already done) you can buy that faction's tabard which allows you to gain rep with that faction while running instances. Once you've got that done, grab some guildies and start running heroics. That way you get heroic badges, drops, and rep all at the same time.

Thanks for the info. That little bit of advice is the type of stuff I need.
Auction house prices are so up and down right now its crazy. My Frost Lotus sell prices have gone from 25-30 gold each to 8. :( But I was ahead of the leveling curve for a while. people are starting to catch up and level professions. I have herbs maxed. But have not started a second profession yet.
