So I sold my 2 subs to a guy in Cali that I had met up with a couple times when I was living there. I sold him 2 JL 10W6's. I don't know what he was expecting... but I tried to prepare him. Those subs are monstrous! He only has one in right now, but I got a message from him on another board, he is FREAKING OUT! He said he doesn't think he'll be able to put the second one in. He said one is almost too much. Something about his ears in pain. lol. I ran both in my car. But I don't think I ever went above 50% volume.

Ya, subs are awesome...I had a pair of Powerbase comp 12 inchers in my old car, those things had some power. 450 rms each. I didnt even have an amp that could put that much to the both of them, but it shook my car plenty. Of course, then I sold the system and the car to buy my Eclipse, now I just need about 2,000 bucks to put a Polk system in my new ride. Unless someone has some gear they wanna sell....?

Planning on either getting 2 of these http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=13205

or this

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=13206
and
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=13208

It'd be pretty sweet, so far im looking at option two, because one 12 inch would be nice enough, I aint taking mine to competitions or anything.

I've heard good and bad things about Alpine subs. If you really wanna get some good bang for your buck, even if its only one twelve, check out this place in town called G&R Autosport. The address is:
2300 James Street

They have tons of Polk / JBL / Lightning Audio stuff there that kicks some serious @$$. They currently have a 12 inch Polk classic series woofer in a box for 250. Thats a damn good price and a DAMN good sub. Check 'em out sometime, tell 'em Mark sent ya, they know me there :D

I'd steer clear of Alpine too. It's all entry level stuff. Look throught the echo for a good deal on Eclipse, JL Audio, or another brand that is top end. That's how I bought my JL 10W6's(used, not through the echo though).

Which is what I want :) I don't need 10000.5 Dbs of Bass, I just want something that makes Enya sound good ;P ;P Jk'ing. I like alpine, always have.

Problem is with the cheap stuff the bass isn't clean. Quality should be a concern too!

Well I don't feel like paying 250 for one 12 inch sub, what would you recomend for me? I can build my own box using my schools computer milling machines so I dont need a box. I want cheap but quality, I don't really care about size. MAKE IT CHEAP.

Well, when it comes to subs, for cheap, but decent quality...I would have to say Sony Xplod. I never plan on using it, but I have heard many good things.

The box, DO NOT MAKE IT IN SHOP CLASS. Unless you have the proper materials available for that kind of box, then anything you make in school will destroy any and all sound quality. Thats why I reccomended the Polk sub, it is a AWESOME sub, and the box it comes with is small, but amazingly clean when it comes to the sound quality. I know a guy who has two of them in his car with a JBL amp, its hard to breathe :D Anywho, just buy some Xplods then, and go to Best Buy for a box, they are cheap, but good. Thats my best reccomendation.

P.S> Do you already have an amp? Cause those are a big part of a system too...

Building a box in school isn't a bad thing. The only hard part is building a "quality" box. I suggest using a box building program. You put in the Q, volume, etc, and it give you the dimensions. I'd stick with a sealed box, because for a beginner, building a ported box or a bandpass is NOT a good idea. Sealed boxes are much more forgiving. As for the sub to buy...

These are ads from the Echo:

***New in box 10" L7 Kicker Solo-Baric. Dual Voice Coils and Plenty Bass!! $125obo 206-465-4409*** If this hasn't sold yet, you BETTER jump on it.

2 10" Kicker CVR $200, 1 12" VR $120 (In boxes) like new 360-771-2302

2 12" JLW6 subs in professionally built box, w/9mo old Kenwood 600watt amp. $300 332-2754

Kicker 12" subs, in carpeted pro box. subs pound. never abused. $250 obo 360-420-6082

12inch JL Audio subwoofer in bandpass box. like new. $75 920-4153

There are more, but these are the only brands that I'd consider that are in the echo. Check the echo first thing on Friday(online) and try to get something good before it sells.

I am gonna get 2 10inch MTX 9500s. They are great. 50lbs a pice. with a price tag of ONLEY like 2000 bucks. that is just for the amp(or 2) and the subs and a box.
