Owns. If you have a Wii, buy this game, simple as that.

'nuff said.

Yup. I totally agree. It has a good online setup, too. You can play two people on one console against two on another over those big tubes they call the internet.

This will probably make for a pretty good console game to play at future LAN parties.

Does everyone have to have a nunchuk?

Yeah, because their lack of internet gaming has totally hurt them. Fucking robonoob. :)

I'm ashamed to admit this, but frankly I'm quite surprised at the stiffness of competition online. :(

Ok, it's not as tough as I originally thought - I just hadn't gotten used to the new depth the game offers over the original. Now I'm back to my domination ways again. I <3 Daisy!

Scumdog! What's your Strikers number? (I REALLY HATE THAT THEY DID THAT THIS WAY BTW - though at least it's not 16 digits like the Wii itself.) I want to beat ya up some. :p

My number: 206265 150949

you dumb.

Since you can see people's Mii before you play them, and if you are judging and assuming that most people are likely to make a Mii as close a representation of themselves as possible, I think the majority of people I play are 18+.

Get the game and I'll thrash you.

Me and Adumb played it a little last night.

I was about ready to give up on the game permanently after the first 2-3 games until we realized that my nunchuck wasn't working for some reason. Then we restarted it and my experience with the game was significantly better.

I haven't really played it enough to have any real judgements on the game, but it seems okay so far.

I need Adumb's code. I must own his person thoroughly.

Dave took the game away for Lulzcon :(

We just jumped right into and played so we still don't know the controls at all. Is there no run button now?

Ender

In the Cube version you could hold a button to make your guy run, but you didn't have much control over him.

Instead of that they implemented a character specific "dodge" move. Also every character now has a speed (movement) rating, and the dodge moves are more specific to the overall makeup of the character.

For example, characters with a poor movement rating: their "dodge" move doesn't necessarily get them across the field faster, but it does something to hinder any opponents nearby - the hammer bros throw an axe in the ground knocking over any opponent too close for example. Monty Mole digs into the ground, then pops back up knocking over anyone too close.

Good movement characters have a "dodge" move that gets them ahead: Dry bones falls apart and disappears and takes the ball with him, and then reappears a little farther down the field. Boo does the same thing (only goes ghost style). Toad does a front flip over people (yes, it works on goalies if you do it just right).

Captains all have their own dodge move too, and it's also associated with their gameplay makeup.

All this of course, along with the individual skills of all the players, really adds to the depth and strategy of picking a team, and it's awesome.

My current team is Daisy (good movement and defense) as captain, Toad as forwad (good movement and passing), Hammer Bros. as forward (good passing and shooting), and Dry Bones as Defensive back (good movement and defense). This gives me a fast team that can pass well between forwards and set up shots for my shooter, but also gives me a big D bonus for killer slide tackles (Daisy owns at this). I tend to average a lot of shots on goal and a lot of steals with this crowd. My shooting is a bit dependent and weak, but each character adds to it with their special moves in some way, making it a really fast and fun team to play.

I could go on and on about this game, but keep playing it, you'll figure it out. I learned most of the stuff from getting beat online a lot, and now that I've figured it out a bit, I'm doing more pwning. :D

I found it very difficult to make any goals in this game, it was hard in the last one but there were secrets to how to juke out the goalie. I haven't figured out how to consistently fool the goalie yet, maybe once I play for more than half an hour ;)

Ender

Oh there's lotsa secrets. Some people might call it broken actually - there's ways to score where it's impossible for the goalie to stop it. However that isn't broken, because such a shot like that has to be set up, and if you let someone set it up, you deserve to be scored on. ;)

(Take Hammer bros to just outside the goal box, then hold the B trigger for his power shot: he jumps up throws a bunch of hammers on the goalie knocking him out, then boots it in for the win. The reason this isn't broken is because it takes a couple seconds for a power shot to come off, meaning you knock his ass over while he's charging it.)

There's nothing really negative in my post, other than the fact that the nunchuck wasn't working at first.

Nah, I don't need to defend the Wii, it's going to claim the #1 spot by year's end with or without my support.

I just misread his reply to Ender as sounding like he was trying to find a reason not to like it. I was wrong.

While the fanboy in me is super anxious for Zak and Wiki, RE: Umbrella Chronicles, Madden '08, Endless Ocean, Battalion Wars 2, Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3 (I think Smash will amaze fans but I'm not really one myself) I'm looking forward to more stuff on other consoles:

Xbox 360 - Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, Ace Combat 6, Two Worlds, and to a lesser extent Halo 3.

PS3 - Heavenly Sword, Haze and Lair. Maybe UT3 since it has m/k support.

PC - Bioshock, Call of Duty 4, Crysis, UT3, and GW: Eye of the North.

DS - Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Dementium, Brain Age 2 and Ninja Gaiden.
