Some friends of mine had a question about the JanLAN which might influence their willingness to go. These strange people seem to think that for a certain price, this awesome tradition becomes somewhat 'not really worth it'. Duh... c'mon guys. But in the spirit of wanting to frag them there I figured I'd ask: what's the estimated seat price for this shindig? Thanks.

well then! let the king of logic help you in your crusade!
umm..Dave? anytime now...:D
j/k
Dave would very much to add that title to his persona, but the tatoo guy he went to just laughed at him. :erm:
Ok, enough nonsense, time to make some sense!
Of course it's worth it! For $15 (if you prepay via paypal - $20 if you pay at the door) you get access to a group of really cool gamers and get to play really cool computer/xbox games with them all day! Included in that price are all you can eat snacks and soda - or until our supplies are exhausted, but so far that hasn't happened. You also get free pizza dinner, and the chance to win cool prizes! We have door prizes and tournament prizes - so if you're good at a game we have a tournament in, then you increase your chance for winning a prize! We are currently working on strageties to mix the skill/luck ratio to winning prizes to make it fair for everyone.
Also, we usually have one or two pretty schweet door prizes every LAN that, to me anyways, make it totally worth it if you win, but if you don't, at least you had a great time. You can't win it if you're not there, and you can't be there if you don't help us cover the cost of throwing these parties. This party we're giving away a sweet motherboard, worth a LOT more than your $15 entry fee. Last couple of LANs we gave away sweet comptuer cases, also worth much more than the entrance fees of the people who won them! Seems like a good trade off to me!
Also, keep this mind. Our mission here at the BLE is to give people a great time. To date we haven't made any profit in this, and I don't forsee that happening anytime soon. :( ;) If it does happen, it won't be much, cause like I said, our first and foremost goal is to give people a great time, and that costs a bit of cash. We also want to make it affordable too. Also, should we ever come out on top, we'd just pile it back into the next party to make it better than the last!
So there ya have it! Plenty of good reasons to keep the tradition alive and to keep coming for a great time! :woot:

How's this for logic.
If anyone does not feel they're getting their money's worth, come find me at the lan and I'll personally reach into my own wallet, pull out $15 of my money, and hand it to you (regardless of if you paid $20 at the door).
I have three requirements to this deal.
A). You have to genuinely feel that you haven't gotten your money's worth.
B). You aren't allowed to come back to future lans.
C). You have to give me at least one honest suggestion for what we could have done differently (within reason) that would have made it worth the $15.
That's it. You can keep any prizes you won, and I won't even make you puke up any pizza or pop you consumed. This deal is open to every paying customer, whether you've signed up already or not.

I would never ask for my money back but its nice to know you guys feel that strongly about it. I figure I would spend at least that much for dinner and a movie. But that only lasts 3 hours. I think it sounds like a great deal.
I even upgraded my motherboard, CPU and ram this week just for the LAN. Hope I win that motherboard. Is it a door prize or do I have to win it with my awesome gaming skills:hump:

If you don't feel like you get your money's worth, I hope you will. How else will we know?

A suggestion box might work;)
I very rarely complain about things. If I buy a product and it breaks 6 months down the road I buy another. I don't return it or RMA it. It’s just the way I am.
Unless I'm drunk at Denny’s 3AM and they screw up my food.

We've got a whole forum for suggestions, but I'm sure we can arrange an actual box for anonymous suggestion.
I'm the same way with returning things. =/

Thanks guys I got my friend convinced with a little o' your good sense and ultimate wisdom :kneel: Now that I have him convinced and we're both planning on attending I was wondering how to get to the party once i'm inside the building. I read somewhere that it was on the fourth floor but I wasn't really sure. Should I just ask at the front desk for directions or is there a room number u guys can give me?

Glad to hear your friend was convinced =).
