Gallery

I think ble needs a gallery for images from lan parties and special events. I've been looking in to one that I like, called Gallery, and I found it to be fairly simple to set up and use.

you can get more info on their web site (http://gallery.menalto.com/index.php) and a gallery in action at Wirehead Studios (http://www.wireheadstudios.org/gallery/). If I can figure out how to get apache to work with ics I'll let you check out some of the more advanced features for registered users and administrators.

please let me know what you think of the idea and the specific gallery(if you don't like this one I can look for others)

My web host has Gallery installed on my server so I loaded all my pics from the LANs in it. It’s easy to use. Almost too easy. It lacks options that I can find to change things like layout and page background color. They must be there somewhere but I have not spent more than 5 minutes looking. It’s easy to upload pics and make captions. It also automatically makes thumbnails of the pics you upload to it.

Here is the gallery I have made. This took about 30 minutes to do. I would have been less if I hadn't had to learn how to use it first.

After clicking on the link to Wirehead that Thanatos provided I see I was wrong. I will have to dig deeper to find more configuration settings.

dave: I can probably help you set it up... i may need a shell account to do it though, it requires som executeable binaries to run. I also need to know wether the server is linux, unix, or windows(apache or iis).

Excessive: go here (http://gallery.menalto.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=GalleryDocs&file=index) to try to figure out how to change the settings.

1) go into the install instructions for your os/access methood and follow the instructions tor modifying file access permissions(you may need to write a php script to execicute the batch files for the windows version, if you need help let me know)
2) read about the config wizzard and run it. DO NOT CHANGE THE PATHS! this could break the gallery.
3) undoo the file permission changes according to the instructions.

I think I found where I need to make changes. The program uses .css to set backgrounds and such.

I appreciate the offer, but I think we'll be okay...our host (http://www.srohosting.com) has superb customer service. :rup:

Right now we're (and when I say "we", I mean, "other people who make me look smart") looking into it. Apparently previous versions of that software were very high security risks. Don't I look smart? ;)
