Thanatos is a pretty common name.

First off it's the name of one of the coolest villains in Secret of Mana, but it's also the name of some god of death (a greek god? I dunno).

I heard this name for death in the book On a Pale Horse by Pears Anthony.
in the book death is one of 5 positions that are heald by mortals (the others are fate, time, war, and nature) called the encarnations of immortality. while they hold their position they are immortal until soneone else comes along to take up the position. so consider my online alter ego as such.

and the book is a good read so check it out

That was the book that turned me on to fantasy. After that book the only fiction books I have ever read have been Sci-fi and fantasy. Piers Anthony is a great author. Although I never got into the Xanth series much I read everthing else he has written.

I have read so many books I would be afraid to write one. It would be hard for me to come up with a truely original idea. And not subconsiously copy another authors ideas in places.

Yeah, but it helps you to learn how to flesh out characters, which is what I need to learn.

I've got a pretty sweet plot line all planned out, but I need to learn how to make the characters charasmatic and believeable.

Also, A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin...makes you side with both the enemy and the good guys..and some others in-between! Excellent Series...

bah G.R.R. Martin turned me off big time. It was kinda cool and an original idea to be sure at first...but by the third book I quit caring about the characters entirely and the didn't want to know anything about the story anymore. Course that's what turned some people on to it...
Aside from LotR (which to me only begins to get good after Bree) the only real fantasy author that I've really gotten into was David Eddings. I've read most his stuff, though he's come out with a lot since I was big into it that I haven't gotten around to yet.
