Sorry for the geeky title, but...well...I'm a geek.

With the New Years behind us, and more importantly, our New Years Bash, we have BLE February to look forward to, and I've opened signups. I was originally going to boot everyone that had already signed up, but I decided that was too much work so I just took everyone off the waiting list. What that means is, if you signed up when the page was first put up but you've determined you can no longer come, pleeeeze take yourself off the list and make room for someone else who smells better.

We're taking a different format with the tournament for this Birthday Bash, the details of which are on the event page. The Cliff Notes version is that there's $200 up for grabs, allocated to the third place for $30, second place with $70, and first place gets $100. Teams will be randomly drawn and assigned at the start of the tournament. Unlike most tournaments, this will be a four stage tournament, not including the random drawing for participants.

This tournament will also have a bit more nutty-ness than most tournaments, as I'm not terribly interested in who the best CSS or UT2k4 players are. Sorry, Infinity and Ghrog! The upside to this is that it'll (hopefully) be somewhat easier for more casual gamers to compete next to the pro's.

In the mean time, there will be more BLE Gatherings planned in the next month or two in addition to this lan, so don't stray far!

There are currently 20 users signed up, leaving 10 seats still available. Cost to attend is 15.00 paid before the event and 10.00 if you pay at the door.

Way to go Dave.

can we bring back some games of the hour? Its nice to know what your going to be playing when, so you don't have the "lets play ut2k4!" "NOOOO, BF2" "BF2 SUCKS!!" "NO IT DOESN'T!!!" "CS Server is up guys" *speradic CS for 15 mins till server crashes*

but I have to admit I wasn't their for later in the night when it sounds like it got really good. But maybe earlier in the day when things are sorta getting started?

DiscoDave

Yea, we'll do games of the hour again. Probably the same as usual...CSS, BF2, DoD, Tournament, Dinner, Other Stuffs.

Funny thing, when "the other guy" had his mom drop him off, she thought I was in charge. I guess I just have the look of someone in charge whereas Dave...well, you just KNOW he's gonna fuck things up somehow.

Errr...it's not. Sorry, it's actually the 11th.

And as a side note, we're actually booked at the hotel as far as October, if you can believe that. In fact, I just got the last Saturday that was available in October. *boggle*

I have. Well, I haven't, but I'm sure I'll be blamed anyway.

I had booked April 29th, but it turns out that had actually been double booked and I was the second to grab the date...and now April is full. So...blah.

So no lan between March 11th and May 6th, unless something opens up. Maybe we can do a console party at Jinx's or Excessive's or something.

Problem is, the CS:S server crashes when the server changes levels, for some reason.

Dave, I suggest installing the Mani Admin Plugin for CS:S and DoD:S. Then run the server as an Internet server, and I'll help you configure the Mani files to allow selected users at admins. It'll allow us to change maps from our computers (assuming we're given admin), etc. You can put restrictions on the admins, too, to avoid my fun admin abuse.

The reason for the Internet server is that if you run a LAN, all SteamIDs default to STEAM_ID_LAN, so you'd be giving everybody admin. Without proper port forwarding, the Internet server won't show up anyway -- and connecting to an Internet server from the LAN connects to the LAN IP, which means a ping of 5 (default LAN ping) for everybody.

How's about you set up map changes properly so admins aren't required?

QuietStorm
01-03-2006, 11:56 PM
Cody, it may change to maps we don't want to play, etc.

It's a hell of a lot easier to have an admin do a map vote. :p

Oh, also... I should post a folder with the best CS:S maps, including some custom maps, for your consumption. It'll be a lot easier than having to download them, and more fun than just playing standard maps.

I think it's downloading something. Even though Steam updates everything, there's always a long wait the first time the map is run (after an update). After that long wait, it'll never have a problem on that map again (until the next Steam update).

Everyone bitches enough about CSS maps that I'm afraid to put third party maps in the rotation.
