Ah yes, the end of a lan party. There's a little window of about...oh...8 hours or so when even a game like Civ4 sounds boring. Okay, maybe that's a bad example. ;)
But we shall move on...we shall prevail...and we shall play many more video games in the days, weeks, and months to come! Otherwise you're all fired! With a capital F! Only if I were to use a capital F, I'd have grammar nazis hunting me down!
Lest I lose focus, this marks the end of official BLE lan parties for the calender year of 2005, and indeed, it may be we have to wait until February for our next event. But oh, February indeed....the treasures that await! Treasures the likes of which you have never seen! (Sorry, I'm not talking about boobs....OHBURN!)
There's a couple of big movies opening soon....King Kong will DEFINITELY be a BLE movie (in Burlington, you losers, so find rides now), and Narnia is a possibility as well. We may do a bowling adventure as well, as we haven't done that in a while. Post away if you have any other wonderful ideas. Console Parties, and/or Community driven Mini-LANs are also possibilities.
In the mean time, thanks to everyone who came to the lan yesterday, I hope you had fun, and I hope you all come back in February! :rup:

Narnia but not Harry Potter eh?
FYI for those that haven't read the books...narnia is far more a "childrens story" than Harry Potter ever was.
Not that that bothers me...I'm a huge fan of both series. :)
Keep December 10 open too you nubs...and buy a DS w/Mariokart DS too.

I've gotta work in Seattle tomorrow. =/
And I might have tried to setup a Harry Potter movie gathering, but to be honest I didn't realize it was opening this weekend until Friday.

I say we all get together and go next weekend. That way we can all spend our money and NOT buy portable gaming systems.

You being a mariokart fan I simply cannot understand how you wouldn't want to own what is easily the best mariokart title to date. The revolution's mariokart had better be super damn good if it wants to compete with this gem.

OH yeah and someone should pick up Mario Party 7 for Dec 10 as well. :)

A), I don't know anything about this version of Mario Kart thusly don't know what makes it so great.
B), I'm innately hesitant to buy gaming platforms specifically for one game.
C), I don't understand the point of portable gaming.
D), I have to oppose you on everything. It's part of the job.
E), You're dumb and gay and I hate you and go drown in a swamp and get eaten by a crocodile.
F), When you get to be my age, you'll understand.
G), Mario Party 7 is a distinct possibility, particularly as I never bought Mario Party 6, and you took your copy with you just because "it belonged to you".
H), YOU'RE a Harry Potter. OHSNAP!

Well next time you have some time at work, you should go hang out with the PA guys and ask if you can play it.
I have just finished configuring my wireless router and let me say...there really is nothing more awesome that laying in my bed playing mariokart with some people all over the world just before I go to sleep. :)
I just got done with a race...LOL the best thing ever, the very first item box I hit I got a blue shell, and since I was in first place I decided to hold on to it. I stayed in first up until the very end of the last lap, at which point I used my blue shell and hosed all 3 of the guys in front of me right as they were about to cross the finish line, and hence ended the race in first place. :woot: All they need now is a headset so I can gloat over my victories in their ears. :D
While I use this one game to try and sell you on the system, there are many others that are all sheer gaming pleasure. Being a fan of turn based strategy games I'm willing to be you'd fall in love with Advance Wars Dual Strike as I have. The DS has recently reminded me how much I miss good 2D side scrolling games too and there are lots for it.
As for a purpose or point of portable gaming...it's gaming whenever wherever you want. Especially with the wireless of nowadays portable gaming systems, it's like an instant LAN party whenever you hang out with your friends...think of it, there's 8 of us all going to see King Kong, but in order to get good seats we have to go a couple hours early and just sit there outside the theatre...boom we all whip out our DS's and play 8 player mariokart while we're waiting.
Anyways, I'm not going to convince you of it for sure, but go play it on the PA guys's DS's sometime. And if not, then on Dec 10 you'll be sitting there watching several of us have a hooting good time wishing you were too. ;) Maybe I'll be able to tear myself away long enough to let you try it once. :D

I know! I expected them to think more about my feelings before moving, but for some reason they just don't seem to care!

I'd buy a DS, but, really, when am I going to get time to play? If I have consoles and my PC on hand, I'd rather play that.
What am I gonna do, play my DS on the bus?

That's certainly a start. It's not just about portable gaming...but more that the types of games you get on portables are not games you can get on console and PC anymore. They're still great fun games and people love them, but for some reason the PC and current gen console devs don't want to make them anymore. The 2D side scroller is a great example of this. Games in the original 2D zelda format are great examples. Turn based strategy games in 2D. Few of my favorite handheld games come in 3D actually.
For example, I'm currently working on a review for Zelda: The Minish Cap. As a brief review I'll tell you that this was one of the most enjoying gaming experiences I've ever had. But every Zelda game since 64 has been in 3D, and while those are great, this one is great too, and I'm really happy I played through it. I probabaly wouldn't be any worse for wear had I not played it, but that doesn't change how great a game it is. I'd highly recommend it to anyone that is a fan of the zelda series.

Nevermind about Dec 10...the 23rd is more likely, providing the offices of the 412i have the day off.
