A substantial number of people were not able to come Go-Karting yesterday due to the $20 pricetag, which is unfortunate beings as we (being BLE) tried to keep things as inexpensive and value-oriented as possible...in fact, four races would normally cost around $60 there.

I'm sold on Paintballing in June, and that will likely be relatively expensive although I have no idea HOW expensive, and of course BLE will do as much as we can to keep the prices down for everyone.

Anyone have any ideas for some fun activities that would be free or cheap we could do in August, in the Bellingham area?

Maybe if you hadnt changed the date so quickly... i think alot of us thought it was happening on the 14th....

Well, it's too late now... sorta...

The payment deadline for a men's slowpitch team is tonight, and I think it's around $500 for a team.

Let's say we have 20 people willing to play, that's only $25.00 per person for around 20 games of slowpitch softball. This runs until August, I think, and it's usually on Tue, Wed, Thurs for games.

But, you'd have to have $500.00, 20 signatures from players over 18 yrs, and show up at the Payment Meeting tonight at 7:30 pm. So, get on it Disk-O!

-----------------------------

Paintball will cost around $35.00 per person if they don't have gear. They'll have to rent a gun, mask, buy paint, pay a field fee, etc...

well we could have a PC mod contest. Pick up like 15 486's or below and mod them with household stuff like light bulbs and spray paint, barbie heads and such. Then sell them on ebay for large amounts of money! :D

or how bout a video scavanger hunt? We divide into teams with video cameras and drive around finding things.

or we could go to that water park in birch bay (I think) and play "get kicked out of the water park by the nazi guards". Basicly you battle each other down the water slides by running your innertubes into each other!

Bah. Lose/lose situation.

We changed it from the 14th because people were expecting it to be on the 7th.

We'll make sure the next event is planned and set in stone no later than the lan before it, so everyone knows about it.

Itsmeee: Those ideas are...um...very......uh.....special. I've placed them in my special "important document" can-er...file, and will be paying special attention to them on garbage da-er...as we start making a decision.

Paintballing price tag.

1.safty deposite 100 bucks. or if everyone goes in and rents tehem at once its 100 bucks for all. It is returned after the guns are returned and 15$ for a semi-auto gun and 10$ for a pump.

2.Paint. 15$ for 500 rounds of cheep paint or 45$ for 2000 rounds of really cheep paint. and of course 25$ for 500 premium paintballs. or 65$ for 2000 rds of premium paint.

3.Co2 fill up. A tank from semper fi comes full. or its 3$ for a 12oz tank and 4$ for a 20oz tank.

4.or if we go to the field it ads 15$ extra for a field fee per person. I think It is a lot better to go on a home field than the semper fi.

5.3$ for over alls or 5$ for camo over alls.

That is about it. I could make a few calls and get some other prices.

Of course I will :buttkick: and you all will :kneel: to me.

I think I would rather take my truck around a track. I could take that thing and whip the rear end around the corners in 2WD then I could take it through the mud course and drop it down to 4 low. Get a little muddie. I think that would be a lot better than gokarting. I am just excited because I finaly onley have 2 things to do till its streat leagle. and they are mostley minor.

Val, you're just saying that because you kicked all amounts of ass. >=)

It's entirely possible we'll do it again, but remember there's a limit of 8 cars that can be on the track at once.

It's also something that's best in the cooler months. In August, it'd probably be better if we could do something outside. If someone wants to look for a decent outdoors race track, we could look into that.

We'll be doing that when Return of the King's Extended Edition is released.

It'll be an all-day marathon. :nerd::nerd::nerd:

Extended? It can get longer? I stoped drinking fluids 6 hours before I saw it in the theater so I could make it through the whole movie without going to the restroom.

Oh. My. God.

I have to side on Dave with this one.

Matrix sequels = horrible.

But that's the only time, Dave, you iron-fisted hacker tyrant.

1 paintball sounds great
2 the matrix sequals are only good together(otherwise they don't make sense)

DiscoDave

Second one doesn't make sense, and while that was okay when I watched it, the third didn't do anything to explain the second...which really sucked for me.

^ Exactly how I felt.

I thought the second one was pretty great when I saw it, and looked forward to the 3rd tying up the loose ends.

Instead the 3rd was only a pretty boring action fest with little questions being answered, more being created, and some pretty dumb plot twists (and a big heaping lack of Morpheus-ness).

But thankfully it had a big heaping lack of Neo-asssssness. Unlike the second movie.

Yeah. Suprisingly, though, it still managed to have a whole heaping lack of acting, too.

Lord of the Rings marathon would be leeter.

You used to be able to get into some of the lecture halls in the WWU library after hours and use the computer projectors. I've watched a DVD on the 12' projector screen in there a couple times. If we had a small enough group, I may be able to hook up something like that... although I doubt for long enough to watch more than one or two regular lenth movies.

We could also do some small, informal weekly lans for those who could make it. I've been thinking about having one in my apartment for awhile for like 6-7 people. Or, best of all (imho), we could barbecue. I really don't think that going out and spending money on a 'special' activity is a necessity. Especially right now; we're having literally some of the nicest weather I've ever seen in Bellingham. We should just get together on somebody's back porch and eat flame-cooked animals. :D

damn! a bbq! That'd be sweet! My house would work swell for that too, got a nice small front yard...hell, we've even squeezed 6 people in my garage before! (BLE LAN #1 AUG 2003) but hell we could always set up a few xbox and tvs in the living room for kicks during the bbq. I like that! frickin august is the perfect time of year too!

Or if not at a house of someones (oh man suddenly Dave's house is coming to mind) we could do it at a lake! Most of the lakes around here have bbq pits at them, we could cook it up and swim etc etc...lol a bunch of computer nerds with their shirts off! :woot:

Yeah, Haggard Hall 2nd and 3rd floor has some lecture halls that would be fine for viewing. Sometimes my roommate (kenjfisher1, a member of BLE) and I go and play X-Box Live on these screens... Good times.
