I just heard from the Hotel. They're, as of now, confident they'll have a resolution for our Internet issues, including a backup plan in case something happens. They really want us back, as we're a regular group and a steady source of revenue for them.

This is good news.

I'm not going to open registration for the next event until I can verify with my own eyes that we're going to be taken care of, and I can't predict when that will be.

As I've hinted, if everything goes according to plan, there'll be something a little special lined up for this next event. I don't quite want to spill the beans, so I'll offer only this top secret code.

That won't be a sure thing until I open up signups, and I'm waiting to make absolutely sure that we'll have reliable Internet access for that.

I've got Mani Admin set up on my computer and I've got Source Dedicated Server downloaded, so I can run the CS:S server this next LAN -- we seemed to be having trouble with map changes, etc., this past LAN.

The only problem is that Mani gives Admin access by Steam ID, which is the same for everybody on a LAN. But as long as nobody else tries to hijack it, I can do map changes, map votes, slay my enemies, turn people into time bo... uhh... I mean, do map changes and map votes and various other things.

We would have done it at the last lan, but I was so busy trying to...like...make things work, I didn't have time to really set up servers and try to keep people together and stuff.

Everything should be a lot better managed next lan, as I shouldn't have to screw around with the Internet.

If I get a gigabyte rouder would you want to use that for anything. I am looking for a wiered/wireless one for my house. ( we are gonna be gettin cabel internet and I dont feel like running wiers.) But It will have wiered ports.

There's not a whole lot of point to a Gigabit router...it's pretty much a huge waste of money unless you happen to have the biggest pr0n pipe the world has ever seen.

Get a Gigabyte switch and plug that into a normal 100 megabit router and run everything off the switch.

I have an old linksys switch. Should I just get like a wiered/wierless rouder. its wiered to 2 computers and then wierless to one other computer. Or maby I was thinkin of just gettin a gigabyte switch and running a wierless card in my compy and one in my mom's compy and just letting it connect through my computer. She just uses it for internet.

Sure, get Wired/Wireless router. I personally like Linksys, but I think Fear doesn't? Then again, he should be locked up in a padded room, so...

As far as a gigabit switch...if you've got the cash and you really want gigabit, sure. Unless you ever do a lot of file sharing on that network, you'll probably never notice any sort of a speed increase over 100megabit (even assuming you have gigabit network cards), but it's your money. :rup:

BTW, as people start figuring this out, let me remind you the reason I haven't outright announced it is because it's depending on things going according to plan. Obviously my plans for BLE October, for example, won't do much good if there is no BLE October.

Things change on a daily basis. Yesterday it was looking good, today it's looking bad. Hopefully tomorrow it'll be looking good again. :rup: :erm:
