...explain once more why you thought Garden State was such a fantastic movie. Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty sure I enjoyed it, but I'm curious as to why you liked it so much. Sarah thinks it reveals a lot about you that most people don't see.

:confuina:

Okay, I definitely have to hear her train of thought on this one.

Even though I can't help but feel I'm walking into a pop-psychology trap, I'll go ahead and answer the question against my better judgement.

I'm big on almost all movies with complex father/son relationships. I can't see Field of Dreams without turning into a blubbering mess.

I also tend to like movies where the main character(s) start off broken in some significant manner, yet find a way to reconnect with themselves.

The script was very well written, dialogue was spot on, the quirky and slightly off beat humor was right up my ally, acting was fantastic across the board...everything worked.

But my favorite part of the movie was the visual style. There were a ton of visuals that just seemed beautiful to look at...the look of the film was just stunning, in my opinion.

If anyone else liked the movie for the visuals, you should also check out "Millions" from director Danny Boyle.

Was Sarah right? I want to hear more on that.

Golden Ears?

DiscoDave

It's a hike up in BC.

If you imagine a map and draw a straight line north of Bellingham, and another east of Vancouver, Golden Ears is almost exactly where those two lines would meet.

Right between Pitt Lake and some other lake Google Earth can't readily identify.

fuck off pyro. I am not one of the prople in this world who can learn out of books. I learn by doing things hands on. That is just the way I am. so stop harrasing me about it allready. You all really need to get off my back about it allready. its old news. "OOOOO UB cant spell verry well. lets haras him about it." Well its getting old and I am getting a littel fed up. I would excell at a school like BTC wich is where I plan on goin. So if you all dont lay off then I am just gonna leave the BLE. it a load of bull shit. So stop fucking getting on my case about it. I can still get my point acrost. I have a little thing called street smarts. Its getting uncommon these days. Like how the matter of the fact is is that I can do my own work on vehicles. Not have to pay someone up the ass to do it for me. Something a lot of people at the BLE cant do. I am talking about really working on vehicles. Like rebuilding the motor or replaceing it. and personally most people havent done that here. Spelling is just a minor aspect of human life. I really dont care that I cant spell. It doesent matter to me.

loller. Sorry, couldn't help it.

And UB, I'd never want you to leave BLE over something so trivial. But regardless of how street smart you ever are...it'll be hard to get anywhere without being able to spell correctly or use grammar. The general public just doesn't take people who can't very seriously. And if you're not taken seriously by the general public, there's not may places left you could end up. At least try - no one can fault you for that. Don't take me the wrong way and get all mad again, but seriously, you should at least try. You might find it's not that hard if you put a little effort into it.

Tyler, let me try and restate something that Nate was trying to say, but I believe got lost somewhere. While the general public doesn't take illiterate people seriously, they DO take people seriously who are at least trying to learn. We all have areas that we need to work on, yours just happens to be more visible than others. Don't let it get to you, just kick it in the ass. You can learn to spell if you decide to.

I am not illiterate. I can talk well with people. I am in a job now that involvs a lot of spelling. I am just on the fourms where I dont take all the extra time to make shure everything is spelled corectley. I mean come on. OK or Okay who cares. its like saying LOL. so lay off is all I am trying to say. I mean there was a whole thread devoted to how I cant spell. I took it and blew it off. But not all the time. and it getting realllyyyyyy annoying to have almost every post corrected when I am just typing. some of it is just a slip of the finger.

(I do this because, as anybody who's talked to me for longer than 10 seconds IRL knows, I can't speak. I have serious trouble speaking. I have to go slowly or I trip over words -- and even then, I have trouble. And now I have to learn a new language at school!

I have never seen the movie, so here are my opinions:

-Using the guy from Scrubs, the comedy on NBC, is a bad choice. Why? Because he is mostly known as a comedian. So, I see the cover and think, "why's he in this movie?"

-Natalie Portman is awsome. So ehy's she in this indie movie with the guy from Scrubs? WTF Natalie?

-The old world war 2 BMW motorcycle with side car. TSK. It's painted with the american paint job? It's German. WTF Hitler?

-The helmet he's wearing on the motorcycle is setting a bad example for the youth of today.

-I like some of the soundtrack.

-The fact that Nat's character listens to The Shins is awsome and horrible. If she doesn't really like them, and pretends to, I hate her and the writer who put her up to it. I love The Shins. They are an amazing sounding group, considering how simple it is.

-About the soundtrack. F**K it. They used Such Great Heights. An amazing song. BUT GUESS WHAT?! They don't use the original by Postal Service, from about 2 years ago. NO. They use a slow way too over the top slow I'm so sad and emo slow cover from IRON AND WINE?! WTF HITLER?! Firing squad.
