Oh my gosh! I like ebay! Okay, so how exactly does selling this stuff work? I just listed my amplifier today. Already had 2 emails. One guy asking me what my reserve price was. And another guy asking me if I'd be willing to skip the auction process completely. So, I know that Ebay doesn't care for you to cut them out, but what are the rules for ending auctions early/ pulling the item? I'm not going to end it unless this guy gives me a good offer, but I need to get some info before I email him back with my response. I didn't expect it to go this fast!

everytime i sell something on EBAy someone asks me too just sell it to them direct. I always wait for an offer than tell them to bid that amount. Many times I have ended up with more than what I would of got had I taken an offer and took my item off auction.

If you pull the item and sell direct, you loose any protections e-bay provides for both the seller and buyer. Is it worth the risk?

Yeah I saw something about buying and selling on Ebay... Alot of scams come from people asking for you to sell early, dont do it.

Update. So my auction starts at $200, my reserve is set at $250. The guy that I told my reserve price just came back and offered $290 for me to end the auction early. And now I have another guy asking me what it'll take to end the auction early.
I should have used Ebay for this a long time ago!

well you could always remove the item and sell it, or just tell the guy to bid $290. If he isn't willing to do that then I would say that something bad is going on. If he does that than you are guaranteed that amount. Sometimes people do this and either send you a bad check, or sometimes they use a stolen credit card so you get the money charged back. Sometimes your buyer will claim that he/she never got the item, and if they payed with a credit card I think you have to give them their money back if you can't prove that the package was delivered. So make sure a signature is required and maybe even insure the package.

If the buyer buys from you outside of E-Bay you cannot leave feedback. You can choose not to sell to those with negative or no feedback.

I sold my Gamecube on EBay, and I had to auction it two or three times before someone finally bought it.
I had to lower my reserve price by about $50.00...
Pretty good deal though.

I have never understood the whole reserve price thing. I refuse to bid on any item with a reserve. I would rather have the seller put the starting bid at the lowest amount they would be willing to accept.

That's what it's there for, isn't it?
That's what I did.
I wanted no less than $325 for what I was selling.
But I lowered it to $285.00 when it didn't sell.
I was offereing a package worth about $600... up to $800 if you bought everything brand new.

I'm taking that guy's offer to end the auction early at $290. I paid just over $400 two years ago for what I'm selling. I think that's a pretty good deal. And I'm getting a little more than what I've seen the amps selling for, so I'm pretty happy. I'm told the guy to hold off for a day so I can get my Paypal account verified so that I'm protected.

Be carefull if they ask you to ship outside the US. And why wont he just place a bid? sounds like a mistake to sell it to him outside E-Bay. Its good for you but whats in it for him if you sell it outside E-Bay.

no no no.... I'm asking him to bid $280(shipping charge is $10)=$290, and I'll close the bidding. I just told him to hold off from bidding until I get verified.
