For the love of all that is holy take that Friggin' exhaust kit off! gawd those are about the worst things in the entire world! I'd love to get my hands around the neck of whoever invented that and squeeze...;)

Ender, they add performance, and they sound damn cool. Unfortunately they look really gay in the process. Jobe, sitting in the car for show? lol

the adding of performance would be the only positive aspect. They not only look bad, but they sound absolutely horrible. Man how often have I wanted to stuff a potato in one of those???? ;)
But hey, it's just not my flavor. ;) Give me a subaru outback impreza wrx. :rup:

Actually..... most of the exhuasts out there on Hondas/Acuras don't add any performance at "useable" rpms. They may add at max 3-5hp at very high rpm's, but they sacrifice torque at the low rpms. This translates into, even slower off the line, and just a hair faster at top speeds. Which for most people out there racing their Honda's, they rarely get past 60 in a street race. Most are racing light to light.
If you don't understand this, then do some research on backpressure. Small displacement engines need backpressure to create torque. Torque is what is used off the line, unless you like doing clutch drops at 6,000 rpm's which will kill your tranny/rearend/engine really fast. For a 4cyl 2.5" is about as large as you'd ever want to go for exhuast diameter. And that is pushing it for a naturally aspirated engine. So in the case of 90% of the Honda's in B'ham, the exhuast is actually making them slower. "it feels faster" means nothing. Dyno results prove what I'm talking about.
**I've done quite a bit of research on this stuff**

Keep the exhuast if it makes you happy! I won't ever understand it... but hey, if it slows you down, that means I'm faster!

You will never convince most of us that grew up with V-8 power, that big exhaust on small engines sounds cool. ;)

You can get all those in a car with a V8. ;)
This is what my next truck will be. Ford Lightning. I belive the new GM has more impressive specs, but I'm a Ford man. I don't hate Chevy or other brands, I just prefer fords.

Actualy I did some looking. the lightning is better than the SSR
Lightning:
Horsepower: 380 hp @ 4,750 rpm
Torque: 450 lb-ft @ 3,250 rpm
4700 lbs
SSR:
Horsepower 300 @ 5200 RPM
Torque 335 @ 4000 RPM
4760 lbs

wow... I guess all the frame reinforcements needed for a convertable truck add a lot of weight! It's more than the Lightning.

Yea. I have an 8 foot bed on my F-150 now. Its only got a 4.2L V-6. But the bed is so light its hard to get traction sometimes. The lightning is only a 6 1/2 foot bed so is even lighter. I wonder what they do besides wider tires to help it get traction.
And I think the SSR is a hard top convertable.

Probably an LSD. Go with a posi and you'll be set. I've got a detroit in the back of mine, but that wouldn't be what you want for speed/acceleration. You might snap an axle racing with a detroit!

Its not a big enough issue to mess with. I had a detroit in my Bronco. It is definatly not something I would want in a truck I drive everyday.
Depending on the type of racing, a detroit could be helpful. straight line, ok. But it could hurt in the turns. Thats where you put the stress on an axles with a detroit (that and tire wear). Drag racers often use a locked rear end, which is basicly the same as a detroit. It will not affect speed and acceleration. It will just ensure that both tires get equal power at take off so you get better traction. 2 tires spin instead of 1. :hump:

Hmm... I haven't heard of racers using Detroits. I thought they either used an LSD, posi, or spool. As for the turns, I don't think a Detroit is that bad. As long as you don't gun it or let off the gas suddenly. Detroit's allow one wheel to spin faster than the other(outside wheel in a turn). It's basically free wheeling. Did you hear the famous clicking when you would turn? I've read that everyone hates the sound of the Detroits, but honestly, I can't hear mine. I heard it ONCE. The only adverse affects I've noticed, I can't spin the rear tires, if I do, I just get axle hop. And I have to be careful with tight turns while deccellerating(like pulling into a parking spot really fast(lots of tire chirp!).

you get tire chirps in tight turns because the your detroit is NOT letting one tire spin faster than the other.

I know. It's because of the acceleration(+ or -). But I'm just careful, and I haven't had any problems. But I did have a problem last year with my rear ring gear. I was offroading at Evan's Creek(south of Seattle), and somehow my rear differential breather got ripped off. My diff sucked in mud, water, sand, everything. I didn't notice it until I got home. I drained it immediately. But, needless to say, my rear end lasted a month after that.
