If BLE July has proved anything, it's that lan parties are so innately fun, even a complete failure of an admin can't completely ruin one. We got a bit of a late start, and there was much reminiscing of the elder times when Ender protected everyone from the evils of DiscoDave. But, alas, in a way it actually worked out as it gave people a chance to chit chat, find common ground on the hatred of certain "bad" admins, which brought them together and no doubt will pave the road to mucho manbabiez.
In a way, I feel sort of like cupid, with my wild unrestrained ineptitude serving as my bow and arrow.
Anywho, don't expect such a late start for quite a while as Ghrog aka the Holder of the Key is going to start setting his alarm clock, and we'll be more setup and ready when the magical 11:00 hour comes.
Beyond that, there was much wild and crazy gaming goodness...Battlefield 2 was definitely a favorite game, and I'm reckoning that'll be with us for a good long while. CSS was, of course, enjoyed thoroughly by those that didn't mind the fact that I probably did more damage against teammates than the enemy team.
UT2k4 got relatively little play, mainly because Kashll's homepage is www.gayaimbots.com and Ghrog's homepage is www.gayeraimbots.com.
And, of course, there was about an hour spent on Guild Wars, where we were able to field a complete team of 8 players to take down a dragon the size of a small house. And, of couse, Glint got FECKING SERVED! The highlight of that, however, had nothing to do with the downing of a 50 ton dragon and everything to do with DZ being unable to pickup a max damage golden fiery dragon sword.
Burnout3 also got a ton of action, and there's numerous BLE patrons eagerly awaiting Burnout Revenge, the next game in the series lined up for XBox 360....rest assured that'll find it's way in BLE when the time comes.
It'd also be a crime not to mention the trip to Shari's featuring a certain BLE member enjoying a patented mixture of Tobasco and Mayonaise for money along with general childishness that will one day result in restaurant management brutally murdering each and every one of us...mark my words well.
And then there was the ultra-competative PDX inspired world class tournament. The final ruleset? DM-Morphias3, quad jumping Redeemer Arena between two randomly chosen contestants (OneCrazyMofo and Phatmaster) with Phatmaster securing the win via some creative thinking leading me to secretly suspect he plays nothing but quad jumping DM-Morphias Redeemer Arena. Regardless of his training, he walked away with a whopping 3,000 penny gift certificate at EB. Why a gift certificate instead of cash, you ask? Because I'm evil. BWAHAHAHAHAH.
Next month with PDX and PAX taking time out of our beloved (hah) admin's lives, we're gunna take a break...rumor has it there may be an unofficial mini-lan announced, so stay tuned. And, of course, BLE will be back in September with monthly lans through our Birthday LAN in November.
In the mean time, don't forget about our Paintball Gathering (http://www.bellinghamlan.com/lan_events?eventid=27), which should prove to provide many good times.
Thanks for coming, everyone who came...shame on you, everyone that didn't, and hope to see you next event! =D
