There's a big LAN (http://chat.restek.wwu.edu/viewtopic.php?t=596) coming here in May and it's all about CS. The links on this link I just gave you don't seem to work, which may or may not mean it's not happening anymore. I don't know for sure.
Anyhow, it's a huge CS LAN and there's going to be some big money. Well, not that big I guess, but $1500 to the winning team (5v5 format) which is what, $300 per person on the team? Not too shabby.
Anyhow, our residents !Ghrog and Infinity are wanting to enter and need a team. I am considering entering but I may not have the time needed to practice and get good enough to hang with Infinity and ghrog (who are both pretty freakin' good).
Post in this thread if you're interested. We'll prolly want to practice at least twice a week, and it will prolly happen where the LANs are so we can all be in the same room for easy communication. I may or may not be able to participate so for now we'll just count on me not being able to make it.

I dont think this lan is going to do good at all. Do a search on google for "tcx lan" and see what you get. a few refrences on 2 sites. and the 2 sites both list a website for info and registration, both of which are not working. Planing a 250 man lan on two months notice takes a lot of planing and advertisement. I think BLE does more than TCX has done to advertise their LANs.

To me it looks like someone has gotten big dreams about starting a lan and making some money. But has failed to act on those plans well.

For those who are planing on going, good luck. I hope you have fun. But even if I played Counter strike I would be leary of the price tag myself. And I would not send any money untill I saw more action from TCX in promoting this event. or at least a semi decent, working, website.

hmmm, excessive may have something on this one. and even though i'm stoked about playing 1)the price and 2)the lack of effort on advertising and their website: make me a little werry. I find it interesting that they haven't done anything to contact us at all.

If you were going to try and hold a special 250 man lan, it seems like talking to existing lan groups in the area would be pretty high on the priority list. :shrug:

t1, but has a killer upstream (5mb). The only problem with it right now is that they system its running on gets bogged down if there are more then 2 people playing on it (its a 333mhz, 128mb ram w/ a bunch of other services besides HLDS). Am hopeing to get a new mobo/cpu/ram combo to fix that though, very soon, ~3 weeks :(.

I can sell you a Duron 750 w/ 30 gig drive and 384 PC133 ram for like 50 bucks... It could use a new case tho :P

Hey... we need to get together via voice or set a time to chat on aim or icq or irc.. :) .... has anyone been able to contact the person that is organizing the 250 man lan? maybe we should go to the location they are trying to have it at and talk to the owner. They might have some news for us. Also , if we are serious about this then we need to play at least 5/7 days... minimum. twice a week might be enough in ogl but not at lans :( theres some steep competition out there :) ... Im gonna try to get one of my friends to play, he's decent. Also, playing a match is very different to playing in pubs. So if you are interested then i would suggest that you goto #findscrim in irc and play 100000000 times to get the idea/feel... :) gg hehe..:D

as for getting together, im up for it anytime after 7pm as long as we pre-arrange it. and maybe one time we could meet up at the office and have a mini-cs only LAN party.

yeah, i also got a guy comeing to the next LAN, phoenix_vii, never met him in r/l; but when i play online with him, he's not too shabby. maybe we could talk him into playing w/ us :)

as for contacting the guy, i dunno about this lan, and there ain't no contact info. but we will definately have to find another one, maybe at the 200ML in seattle, or one of the big ones thats held everyonce in awhile (can't think of one off the top of my head).

they say that the lan is off because they had issues with the hotel they were supposed to have it in :( .. we should still get together though.. maybe go to some tourneys in canada :)
