After-LAN Writup

Well, BLE June has come and gone leaving us to prepare for BLE July. Alas, upon leaving Ender made me promise not to use some of the LAN ideas I had wanted to try, such as a pool-side lan, changing the normal lan day from Saturday to Wednesday, hiring male strippers as dinner entertainment, and a host of other ideas I stand by.

BLE June went quite well, everyone (except me) seems to <3 Battlefield 2 and that's surely going to be a big BLE game. Flatout also got some loving, as did 8 player Mario Kart, CSS, UT2k4, and a whole heck of a lot of Street Fighter 2, which was probably my highlight only because a certain Silver Freaking Corona was intent on crushing my ego in Flatout. Freaking bastard. I SHAKE MY FIST AT THEE!

Another highlight for everyone was watching Dr. Deezee's video card get fried as there's little more entertaining than mocking the less fortunate. Less enjoyable was finding Cody had left a white sticky substance on my mousepad. Suffice to say I'm wondering how safe it is to leave "DiscoDave's Pr0n Palace" shared.

BLE July shall be officially announced within a few days, so stay tuned for that.

PS, congratulations to Fear, Superdude, Farvneho, and Verbal for their graduations!

And yes, the unfaithful "OMFG UT2k4 IS THE ONLY GAME" me finally was convinced (by ghrog <3) to install BF2 demo and I had a lot of fun (once i learned wtf i was doing of coursE)

I cry because Infinity was WAY to good at CSS. I do look forward to playing BF2 at next lan (the full version!!). Split into teams again and DZ's Heroes can own up once again.

The pool thing is dumb....
I'd actually really like to find a way to do an outdoor lan, sometime. Obviously there are logistical issues (bright lights in the day, bugs and condensation at night...), but just think how cool it'd be to get 10 people or so together outside for a mini-lan.





(Okay, I confess, the real reason is cleanup would be a breeze. ;))

You should definitely throw a lan, Jinx, but I'd like to have an official BLE event in July as there won't be a lan in August (due to PDX and PAX, plus another event I'll be announcing in the next couple days).

I was planning on setting it on the 23rd of July, but if you'd like to get a lan in earlier in the month I could push it to 30th and give people more of a breather between events.

I'm thinking I'll wait till august, we'll be all moved in and stuff then I'll be better able to guage what can be done etc. plus not all of us can attend the mega-events, so there will be something for the rest of us to do as well!

August might be a good idea...but the chances I'll be able to make it that month are relatively slim. Basically all depends on whether or not I go to PDX, and at this point that's entirely dependant on whether or not Ender and Maddeh are able to make it.

I'm gussing the weekend before PAX I'm going to be pretty busy doing last minute prep for that.
