this has been rumored for a while. If you remember about a year ago the same rumor was going around about AMD chips. Their are also rumored to be 2 versions of OS-X sitting around for the x86 platform. Its mostly just software would need to be recompiled.
My best guess would this move will be for apple's rumored tablet devices. These have been seen by a few people and they state it is running "a stripped down version of OS-X". That would make a lot of sense for a tablet that is running an x86 version of OS-X that doesn't have many of its applications ported over. The temp, battery, and speed requirements that apple would want for a tablet would mean an x86 such as the Pentium M.
Wether they will migrate to the x86 line is an interesting topic. I wouldn't expect them to do it right away after Tigers launch. Especially after last years "we made it, we have moved our user base to OS-X" speech jobs gave last year. I think the IBM G5 line will move on with dual cores for desktops and dual core Motorla G4's for laptops.

So if this happens, exactly what will be the difference between macs and pc's?
I mean Besides os, plastic shell, and price?

the CPU doesn't make a mac. If you look at the G4 and G5, you think "mac" but not only were they made by different companies (motorola, & IBM) the G5 or a version will now be in the PS3 and the Xbox which doesn't make them mac. If they did migrate which like I mentioned this will for now just fill some gaps in their product line if it does come to frutation won't be a "pentium 4" most likely. They will probably give it another Generation designation and to the avarage consumer the differences won't be that apparant.
