The Opera CEO is evidently a man of his word and slightly insane.

After saying if opera 8 was downloaded a million times in 4 days of its launch he would swim the atlantic he is now swimming the atlantic.

If more people like him were CEOs, this world would be a much better place.

Yea, it's little more than a publicity stunt. The fact that the PR guy is going with him to document the journey is evidence of that.

Well DUH. But at least he is gonna try it. I'm sure he will be clinging to the raft most of the way

If they think they're going across the Atlantic I think they're crazy. No way in hell that's gonna happen, even with the raft.

People have trained for years to do this and he's gonna attempt it after aa few days. I feel sorry for the guy when he has to give up.

"We are so proud of Jon for doing this," said Anne Stavnes, HR manager, Opera Software. "Considering that the closest thing Jon has ever come to swimming was in the hot springs in Iceland when he was a kid, and those aren't even 3 feet deep."

hes screwed

I wonder what percentage of the million downloaders only downloaded it to see this stoobmunch swim the big drink. If I had known about it I would have downloaded it 10 times on every computer at WCC.

Update on Swim
http://www.opera.com/swim/

Looks like their dinky little rubber raft broke and they had to call off the swim.

I don't think they were trying hard enough.

A local farmer spotted the drama from his kitchen window and took surprisingly sharp photos with a remarkably powerful telescopic lens.

They must have been close to land.
