Well I just got off the phone with Kenny and can now say I will be representing Wirehead Studios at the Lan. That means that I will be promoting the Quake 3 mod Generations Arena.

---What Gen Is:---
(ripped direct from the manual)
Generations Arena is an "ultimate tribute" to id Software (developer of the Quake and Doom series) as well as id's fans. Developed and released under the Quake3 engine, Generations Arena recreates all the classic First-Person-Shooter gameplay styles, physics, and weaponry that FPS players have come to know and love.

Players select their favorite "generation" among five choices. Each generation "class" has its own unique character, weapons, physics, and gameplay, all styled after such classic FPS deathmatches as Doom, Quake, and Quake2. Each class represents a particular style of FPS gameplay, so Quake2 fans feel at home with the Strogg Troopers, QuakeWorld fans enjoy the Slipgate class, and so on.

Once players make their selection, they battle it out online against other players, generation versus generation. BFG balls sear the air, lightning guns fry unlucky swimmers, nailguns and chainguns cut through opponents, and chainsaws, fists, and axes deliver humiliations all around. Players can battle in Free For All, Team Deathmatch, Tournament, and Capture The Flag modes of play, or use the bot support to create computer opponents to train against.

GenArena Version includes all five Generations, over 40 weapons to choose from, new powerups and powerup effects, techs, grapples, and much more, with support for server administrators to select what powerups, techs, and even classes are used in their game. All standard Quake3 multiplayer modes are available; additional modes are being considered for a later release.

Unlike its predecessor, Quake2:Generations, Generations Arena has been designed from the ground up to provide the ultimate mod for id Software fans without infringing on the rights of id Software themselves. WireHead Studios has worked hard to recreate many elements of "classic deathmatch" without infringing any copyrights. WireHead Studios hopes its fans thoroughly enjoy the first legal release of the "Generations" legacy.

---At the Lan---
I will be running a Q3 server with the latest release of Generations Arena at this month's (and probably future months) lan parties. I will also be there to answer any questions anyone has about the mod and to provide techsupport.

---Where to Get Generations Arena---
(note if you plan to play online before the lan party get the Full Install with Mappacks. I will provide copies at the lan for anyone who doesn't have it yet)

well I think if UB_Bomber adds another fan to his case the force of the air travling through will create a gravitational force strong enough to make an event horizon of sorts and slow time down for all of us. :D

I haven't...I have, however, read his "Matter Myth". He's a really good sci-fi author...I know because he was able to articulate himself in a way that I managed to actually understand about 25% of what he was saying!

yeah but we don't have to wear seatbelts, bolt our keyboards to the table, or have gravitational compinsators installed on your chairs :D

I have 3

1xPSU smart fan that runs to heat needs, 1x 120mm running low rpm, and...erm...oh wait thats it. Make that two.

PC runs sooo quite and sooo nice! Its quality guys not quanitity :moon:

Ender

quality nothing. I happen to not give a crap at the sound my pc makes, only that I can over clock my 2600+ to 2800+ speeds without losing a degree in temperature. pwnd.

Ok, so that's not it. I don't care cause it's in my garage, so nobody has to hear it. And at a LAN, you can't hear it among all the many other machines anyways.

No cpu fan? Video card fan?

Itsmeee
03-16-2004, 08:08 PM
right thats my third fan. lol its a teency one on my cpu, but no fan on vid card. I modded my 9800 to use passive cooling only. Its two big old heatsinks on each side with a heatpipe conducting heat from the core of the chip to the otherside of the card. Great working!

My CPU fan is a igloo silent breeze II. some really low dba. Actually the really loud part about my pc is my hds'. Im thinking of getting rid of them all in favor of one large one as it will not only consume less power and in so doing kick off more heat, but it'll lower noise level and make general pc'ing better.

Also my chipsets all passive too. One of the reasons I went with the EPOX 8RDA+. Well other then it just being a kicken board in its time.
