it is in fact a very shitty movie. i didn't watch it younger so i don't have some faggy nostalgic eyes to watch it with.

as a movie it's crap. along with many many many movies from that period. i for one will be glad when this whole time is officially labeled the stupid ages.

It is in fact the reason we have ray tracing and 3d rendering, techniques that were developed for the movie in particular. Some nerd guessed the techniques they were using for simulating particals in nuclear reactors could also be used for particles of light, and BAM! Tron happened.
