I'm new here so I thought I'd just post an introduction. (this is partially to save another thread from going off topic)

I just moved to maple falls from California. I grew up in the sacramento area (near davis if u know where that is) moved to San Francisco for about 9 months before running out of money then moved back in with my parents(who decided to move to washington at about the same time). once I get a job around here I plan to start attending lan parties but until then I'm stuck at home.

On another note I'm somewhat involved with a mod team (i know them) and will probably be (unofficially) promoting their mod at the lan parties. The mod team is Wirehead Studios and the Mod is Generations Arena. their website is http://www.wireheadstudios.org. If anyone wants to know more about it let me know.

It's nice to find a large gameing comunity up here and I can't wait to get involved.

Sounds cool! :woot: I thought you were another guy that went by Thanatos who has been going to the parties in Everett for awhile. But Welcome to the site! I hope things go well for you in finding a job. One of our sponsers, who I used to work for, might be hiring soon. Not the best paying job in town, but in a town where getting a job is hard, it is a job! Take a resume down to the Bellingham Grocery Outlet and tell Aaron that "Nate" sent you. :) Those names are important, be sure to remember them!
(He also reads these boards and comes to the parties, so that may go a long way in helping you get the job. :))

Anyhow, Sacto is a nice place...spent a lot of time there with my grandparents growing up (they lived in Citrus Heights) and a good friend of mine now lives in Roseville pretty close to Folsom Lake (res or whatever). Too hot for me though. :p

Glad to see you here and welcome! beware of the discodave! :x

Thanks for the heads up on the job ender. I'll check it out.

I looked at that site, but I couldn't figure out what game it was a mod for...then again, I'm at school and only have a few minutes so I didn't spend much time there...:)

sorry I should have said that. It's a mod for Quake 3.

What is the modification, exactly? I looked, but couldn't tell either....then again, I'm kneedeep in linux, so my brain's a tad overloaded (as if THAT takes much!).

imagine takeing the unique weapons, physics, and abilities of all of the id software first person shooters (yes every doom, wolfenstine, and quake game) and pitting them against eachother. you choose one of 5 classes (one for each game) and play in the standard gametypes available. each class represents one of the games. the classes are doom, earth(wolfenstine), slipgate(quake 1), Strogg(Quake 2), and Arena(quake 3). each class has the weapons and qhysics from that game; although they have been modifyed a bit for ballance issues.

if you want a better idea of the mod (and it's history) follow this link to the about page for gen.

Hey how old do you have to be to work at BGO?

Ender
03-11-2004, 03:42 PM
I think 16 is the legal limit I think, but being out of school (HS - College is ok cause the schedule's more flexible) is a big plus cause they mostly need morning guys. There are plenty of High Schoolers working there though so pretty much you just have to be 16.

Bellingham Grocery Outlet, its right next to bellingham high school which is where i go so I could get a job there and it would be a short drive.

Yeah it's on the corner of York, Forest, Ellis, and some other street (it's a wacked 5 street intersection) on the outskirts of downtown. Coming from where you live M4L you just get to James and head into town and then follow it when it turns into state street...just before you get to downtown turn left on York and you'll see it right there. :)

as much as that would rock I also would not be able to get there. I live in Maple Falls and have no vehicle of my own. My parents wouldn't apriciate going to pick me up at 3 am so unless I get a job before the party I'm going to have to wait.

Start a carpool thread! :woot: I'm pretty sure there are some people that live about an hour a way from there. ;) Or borrow their car?

I don't know for sure, but it may not be that far for some. But I don't know where everyone lives that's coming so I can't really say.

I'm sure we could work out some transportation. If you don't mind being early, and staying late, I could probably give you a ride.

... 7:00! o.O
how late do these parties run normally. I might actually be able to talk my folks into picking me up if they run late enough.

M4LFUNCT10N
03-14-2004, 08:44 PM
As late as you want to stay. I left at 1:30 and there were still quite a few people playing. I guess the last people left around 8:00AM Sunday. I'm probably going to be staying the whole night this time. Might have to bring a pillow and a blanket for a short nap though ;)

Ender
03-14-2004, 08:45 PM
The last one people didn't go home till around 6:00 - 7:00 a.m.

Mostly cause I had to be somewhere's at 9:00 and we needed to clean up everything. So we stopped playing around 5:30 and started cleaning up and I left there at 8:30. :bulb:

We'll be setting up at 7:00PM, who knows how late it will go. I left at 11:30PM. Then people start arriving 10:00AM Saturday morning to set up(if they haven't already).

Ender
03-14-2004, 08:59 PM
generally 7 pm Friday until 10 pm Friday. The LAN opens Saturday at 10 am (so Dave can get his beauty rest - you think I'm kidding ;)).

There'll be a signup thread for volunteering pretty soon here with the details. :)
