I just got a free x-box cause my friend could't get it to work. It doesn't read X-box games or DVD's, but it reads music CD's perfectly.
I tried out what the X-box support said to do and that didn't work.
The x-box is kinda dusty so it could be that or a dirty lense. got any ideas for help?

I would just reccomend that you take it apart, or at least the outer shell, and realy clean it out. A friend of mine had similar problems, and it was because the cd reader was just really dirty. Clean 'er up and you should be gtg

i think valusek is referring to the "Feet" of the xbox when he says "rubber thingies."

I belive you need a T-20 torx driver to pull the screws. Don't remember offhand though.

also under teh labels. be careful though. if you stab the labels, no Microsoft help for you.

yeah... the labels were already stabbed when given to me, but teh feet weren't removed. guess he didn't know bout the feet either. But yeah, I removed the cover and was very confused at what to do next... being unsure and not wanting to break it further, I just put it back together. though the inside wasn't dusty at all.
quick question though... would a regular CD lense cleaner work on it or would i need a DVD or an X-Box lense cleaner to clean the lense?

NO CD CLEANER!!!
DVD CLEANER, ALSO NO!!!
Xbox cleaner only. If you read the back of a dvd cleaner, it says " don't use on your xbox or ps2 console."
