I just got into the FTP of my site so I could really do some editing and so I put up my first completly my site. I liked the idea to start but I don't think I did a good enough job so I think I'm going to completly redo it while mainting a few elements I do like such as the top and side bars though with a different font.
ideas thoughts? (btw not very 56k friendly).
the page (http://mysite.verizon.net/res7sb2k/index.html)
only home and about links work.

wow dude, that will be neto as soon as its all done... actually it will be really really sweet. you going to have any css/jscript going on?

well my original idea was to have flash in the middle and have windows pop in so the outside would stay the same. But I'm not sure that would work. I'm still getting used to Adobe GoLive (you can download it from there website). Its THE best wysiwyg I've used to date, but theres still a good learning curve for the more advanced stuff.
Thanks for the comment, and what is CSS this gsripted that you speak of?? (if photoshop doesn't have it I don't know it)

oha, thought you might've coded it yourself. its javascript, a client-side scripting language, and cascading style sheets, which allows you to create custom html tags. both allow for dynamic content on a webpage.
didn't know you were using a wysiwyg prog. it looks really really good for wysiwyg; could nevar get those to look how i wanted the page to look.

I'm usuing a 30 day trial of Adobe's GoLive! I've never found a good wysiwyg before this! Its amazing though! I'd definatly give a try!

I tottaly redid my page. I'm getting it going right now.
Thoughts would be appreciated. I'm not sure exactly if this is what I want though. The colors are ok, but perhaps the bars aren't great.

I would recomend that you shift all your links to the left. Instead of centering them.
So far the two colors you are using look good together in my opinion.
Edit:
Can somebody tell me what wysiwyg stands for?

What You See Is What You Get
Yeah I think your right. I'm still not happy with the basic design. I'm not sure what its missing.

this looks good but I'm curious about the links on the left. Are you planning on seperating the links into individual images or makeing it an image map. I'm also curious to know wether or not you plan on removeing the extra meta tags and possibly the other garbage that wysiwyg editors tend to put in the code. This one doesn't look too bad in that department, but I would have to see the source after the content has been added. I look forward to seeing the final results.:rup:

well I just redid the bars and I like it now. As for the buttons. I was just going to map them but I've been thinking about it and I think animating them would look good. I think they will have a yellow glow appear around them when you move over them.

looks good but be carefull if you plan on useing animated GIFs for your links; they can get annoying.:rup:

thanks. Yeah I want to stay simplistic. The animation was just going to be a light fade in of yellow behind the text. This website is about simplicity (well on the outside, I've given up on editing the code ).
I'm having troubles getting the gifs animated right though so I'm going to call it a night. They keep looping and doing fade things and stuff. O well.

Can you pst a screenshot of the one you are talking about? I took one web design class so I can do a little html. But I have limited experience with programs such as go live and Dreamweaver.

The ones on this site seem to come and go for me. after you mentioned it the other day I changed pages a couple times and got it to show. but now it is gone. :( IE may have its quirks, but I still prefer it over other browsers.
