View Full Version : OMFG, intro to the P90 Civilian!!!!!
Reinforcements

I can't believe it!! The best gun for superior armor piercing firepower in a tiny package is finally coming to the civilian market!!! It still can't beat the HK G36, which has a semi-auto version, but still for law use only. But it comes in second.
So, should I get one of these instead, or still go for the AR-15?
Check it out!!

I want an HK .45 USP Tactical. Ohh boy is that an awesome gun! Unfortunately for me, it's a little bit expensive. And my mom won't allow any handguns in the house.

Um, yeah. You can take someone down EXTREMELY ACURATLY with an armlite .50 cal sniper from over 14 football fields, yes, 1400 yards. One of my old coworkers had one. It weighed about 45 lbs, and was almost 6 feet long.

notice i said "average skill". its not really about how accurate the gun is at that range, its how accurate the shooter is. i know military snipers can hit moving targets at 1-2 miles or more

A m82a1 50 cal sniper rifle with a muzzle velocity of 2800FPS would take 3.7 seconds to hit a duder 2 miles away. If somebody can lead that good he must have an aimbot.

and calculate bullet droppage, no?
hockeysnipermlg
01-26-2005, 11:54 PM
thats why US Military (and other militarys that match the training) are insane. at that distance, the bullet will also hit WAY before the sound, so the sniper can spike 2-3 guys before the first shot is heard.
and yes, they do shoot up. (oh, btw, most confirmed sniper kills by one man is like 114)

Yeah, it also gets easier when the gun is bigger. The Armlite .50 basically doesn't move when on it's bipod. Remember, almost 50 lbs.
Imagine your compy moniter is a rifle.

i have an LCD
and the good snipers can do that (400-1200 yards) in crouched position, braced against something (not with barrel resting on anything, i read somewhere it messes up vibrations and it makes the shot different or something. not sure what to think about that though)

Saw it coming...the question I have is: Do you have a class 3 weapons license? Sure you can want one real bad, but if you want to own one legally, you need to get approved by the government. I personally would love to get a few handguns. I already have a .357 Magnum, but its a collectors piece from the Border Patrol so it is unfired, but I would prefer to have a glock. Either the Glock 40 (smaller, but fires larger bullets, same size rounds as Homeland Security berettas,) or a 9mm...can't remember the exact model, but my dad carries one for work, and he already has both the Glocks I want!! :stare:

That's a cool gun, but I would still say go with the AR-15. There's a gun shop right outside of Redmond that has a TON of assault rifles, and they have a beautiful HK AR-15 *drools* They also had several different M4/M16 style rifles, several AK-47's (Romanian and Chinese, I believe), and a whole bunch more. As far as handguns go, COLT 1911 .45 BABY! :woot:

The sad thing about reinforcements is that he probably does. Being a crazed right wing nut that doesn't vote, he probably has every available civilian license that can be had.

You should have been in EB with him today.
Not only did he bring up the P90 gun again, but now he's factored in armor piercing and incindiary bullets as well.
"Why would you need an incindiary round for the P90?"
"Because it would be awesome to shoot someones house and have it catch on fire!"

Here's the thing.
1, I am angry.
2, I am a target shooter
3, I don't need a class 3 for a rifle.
4, You should have to pass a common sense test before owning a gun

The K98 mauser is an awesome gun, it may be bolt action, have only 8~10 rounds in it. But the 8mm is just so burley, and very cheap
Not sure if it can shoot through a 3/4 inch plate though, 300 win mag has enough trouble as it is.

5 rounds.
I KNOW it can. This dude from my mom's work shoots crap and had a collection on the wall of all the stuff he shot. There was this huge angle iron thinggy with a few pot marks, a couple big indentations and a hole clean cut right through it, it looked melted through. The indentations were 7.62 bolt action armor piercing rounds that didnt make it through. The clean hole was a 8mm mauser.
I'll try this sometime in the morning, around 9:00 or so, wake everyone where I live up. Was it iron, or steel? I know someone who lives a mile from me that has all sorts of stuff to shoot :)
And I'll post pics!!

Real iron dosen't exist anymore except in very small (antique) quantity, everything manufactured now is qualified as steel. the closest thing you can get to real "iron" is cast steel, and it has so many impurities that make it brittle that it barely qualifies as metal...thus it was probably steel (which is stronger than iron btw)

I've got an old Mauser bolt from 1886 with about 5 rounds left. I've fired it twice, and it blew a hole clear through a 4x4 beam. Not very much, but better than some .22

I've got a bolt action mauser also, not sure how old, but it sure has enough power to scare the shit outta anyone that wanna start trouble.
First I went looking for a metal sheet, this is the closest I could find to 3/4 of an inch plate. So this is the plate I did my experiment on  (that happens to be steel)
http://img140.exs.cx/img140/2980/dsc047420qz.jpg
Heres how I set it up:
http://img140.exs.cx/img140/9968/dsc047438fh.jpg
The log behind it was just in case the bullet actually went through to stop it
Then I shot it from about 20~30 feet away with my brother's 8mm mauser
http://img140.exs.cx/img140/1576/dsc047444om.jpg
I looked behind it to see if the bullet actually did it, It looks like the tip did it
http://img142.exs.cx/img142/5994/dsc047453rn.jpg
but no, the bullet couldn't do it
on a closer look at it...
http://img140.exs.cx/img140/1036/dsc047483la.jpghttp://img140.exs.cx/img140/1696/dsc047478mi.jpg
the in, and almost out
and if an 8mm can't punch through a 5/8 inch steel plate, it cannot punch through a 3/4 inch steel plate
http://img140.exs.cx/img140/9141/dsc047497hz.jpg
And I have plenty more 8mm ammo, so if you want to see more tests I would be more than happy to help. (besides I like it when I have to shoot something in the name of science) :)

And about the 9:00 in the morning thing... I'm way to lazy to wake up that early :o then :coffee:

Much depends on the bullet weight, composition, and powder load. Your cartridge could not make it through. But that does not rule out all 8mm. I'm not saying its possible. Only that your test is not the most accurate representation of all 8mm rounds. :nerd:
What are the bullets you are shooting. Maybe the color is off but they do not look like they have a copper jacket on them.
Ok fine :stare: , all "8mm SS standard 1954 loads"
it has a steel jacket, not a copper jacket
