So you have the white PCI slots but not the brown AGP slot on top? They are sometimes colored differently but you should be able to tell anyway.

If thats the case there really isnt' anything you can do. There are a few PCI -> AGP converters but they are very VERY problem prone, very VERY hard to find and your card will not fit right in your case. The best solution is to work on getting a new motherboard for your PC which considering it has no AGP probably means new CPU and possibly memory. This could be a bit of a blessing though it will cost a bit.

The card doesn't even look like it should fit into any of the slots in that picture. I have two PCI and one AGP slot. The card is a three pronged dealy.

I'm gonna try to see if it'll fit in though, so I'll post again in a few minutes to tell you how it all went down or some such.

wait one prong at the end with no gold on it? It is an AGP card, that bit at the end sits behind the slot and on a lot of boards a latch holds the card in place. Your board just may not have that latch.

Well, it fit, so I'm a happy camper!

Thanks for the help (and the picture)!

like that? It is an AGP, just look at your slot, and remember that green bit a the end sits out behind. It should slide right in.

np, glad it fit.

Now I'm having problems installing Drivers off the CD. Whenever I click on the "Install Drivers" it doesn't do anything. Can I install the drivers from a site?

Itsmeee

yeah you can just download them here (http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp) or you should be able to right click on your desktop click properties/settings/advanced/adapter and have it look at the cd for the drivers. if your usuing XP it should have automaticly installed drivers. Strange it didn't.

Should I have my monitor hooked up through the GeForce at this point? Is that why it didn't install the drivers?

you didn't have your monitor hooked up? So you have another video card in your pc? It may have installed the drivers then, you should deffinatly hook the monitor up to the geforce just to see whats happeneing.

I hooked up the monitor to the GeForce but couldn't see anything. (My monitor has a red light when it's on but not recieving any data, and that red light just stayed on.)

I installed the drivers from the site.

Make sure the card is fully inserted into the AGP slot. Also check your bios for any settings that might need to be changed to enable the AGP port or to disable onboard video.

I have no idea how to screw with the BIOS.

Yup! Thanks for all the help...

Turns out it wasn't quite all the way in, so that's why XP wasn't recognizing it. >_<

ouch, yeah that would be an issue.

My birthday is fast approaching, and I'm gonna take advantage of the situation by asking for a Video Card and maybe a RAM upgrade...

Tell me, is THIS (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-102-350&catalog=48&depa=0) a good video card for under $150.00?

Also, if you can point out a high quality (read: doesn't blow ass) RAM upgrade (256 MB) that'd be cool also.

thats a VERY nice card! :D

as for the memory....you used to be able to get past with the cheaper no name stuff, and at 2100 (266) you still can, but quality ram is a good thing for a stable computer. Your very wise not to just go out and buy whatever.

So for the ram here are the ones I'd suggest dependent on your current ram speed.

2100 (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-145-495&catalog=147&depa=1)

2700 (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-146-214&catalog=147&depa=1)

3200 (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-145-025&catalog=147&depa=1).

Now here is what I'd suggest. If your current ram is some good ram go for the next speed up from it so say if your current ram is 2100 go 2700. Then when you get the new ram run it at the 2100 but increase the memory timings. This will hopefully keep everything running stable but increase all around speed a bit.

Now a bit of warning if your thinking about getting the 3200 because its 400mhz, not everyone can get it going that fast. 3200 will often not run at its rated speed especially if the mobo its running on isn't top notch or the PSU isn't giving out the cleanest power or somebody along the way looked at it wrong. Its a good idea if you want some really good memory timings @ 2700 or think you can tweak it to go to 400 but it can be very difficult.

Also more memory is faster then faster memory. :P

GL, and that really is a kicking video card man!
