Okay, so the problems are never ending. I'm helping a friend out. His computer wouldn't even boot. Massive problems. I was able to access the HD in another computer set as a slave. It "looked" like the operating system files were corrupt. So my friend got a new HD just in case. I removed the old HD and put the new one in. Threw the XP disk in and started the install. Each time we've had problems. First time it crashed was at the "drivers.cab" file. Second time I don't remember the file name. Then back to the drivers.cab file. Well, this time, after the drivers.cab file failed to copy, it showed a BSOD with this:
"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
MEMORY_MANAGEMENT
If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your compter. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
yada yada yada."
What's going on here? It's a brand new HD, and I've tried using 2 different CD-roms. One of the errors said that the source CD was screwed up, so I'm using my third CD for XP Pro. Still same problems. So it's not the CD, CD-Rom, or HD. Is this a mobo proplem?
