Okay, I'm not trying to omit those that are on dialup, but I want to get some comparisons for cable internet speeds. I'm here at work and our speed shows 815 Kbits/sec. At home I get 4.5 Mbits/sec. That's a BIG difference for only a few miles and the same provider. To make this work, use this site for your speed: McAfee Internet Speedometer (http://us.mcafee.com/root/speedometer.asp?cid=9438)

At work I'm getting:
2.706 Mbps
(346.42 KBps)
We're on Comcast.

Here at the LAN center I'm getting 1.5 mb true t1 speed! :woot:
Check with dslreports.com though, I get much better than that with their tests. :)

I know there are other reports that give different values. I guess more or less I just wanted a constant(the test). So I gave the first one that came to mind. It would do no good at all if everyone used different servers/tests.

1.27 Mbps...
It's actually kinda fast right now... Wait until my roommate gets home after work and starts downloading movies off of e-mule.... it'll slow down quite a bit.
EDIT: With my roommate here, downloading "legal" music, I clock in at 779.28 Kbps...
EDIT 2: My roommate is at work, so I tried it again... 1.711 Mbps.

HOLY SHIT! :faint:
I also live in the middle of nowhere, and the only way i can get highspeed intraweb is with a sateliteintraweb thingy and that costs like $600 instalation and $50 a month... -_-
theres a house going in across the street, hopefully the Houses Per Mile (hpm) will be increased enough to have the couny put in a master cable line... then Ill get comcast :) I used to have comcast before i moved... it was pwnt :< If my mom moves again (this is my dads house) and the place has cable, Im outta here too, i hate 56k... but i usually get like 41kbps if that counts for anything...

500-550 down, 200-220 up. I'm supposed to get 680/256, but meh. That fast upload comes in handy sometimes. :)

Yeah just wait till they discover you're running 3mbit+ They'll come out to your place and tell you that you have a weak signal and install a band cap instead. Oh and your packetloss and ping will go up in the process.

Well if you live in Deming, we get pretty good DSL out here by the HS. The Verizon shed is on First street right by the school. It's only $30 a month, you should look into it!

Been there...Done that...Had a BLAST. You can tell I haven't been to this thread in awhile. And now I'm really really jealous of all you guys.I looked into how far the cable line ends from my house and it was sumthin like a 1/5th mile from my property. It really sucks. At least i have t1 at school.
