Every couple weeks or so for the past few months I've gotten an email saying that my ebay account information needs to be updated.
While I do have an ebay account, naturally I still assumed it was bunk. Just for giggles, I clicked on the link.
I'm attaching what came up.
It's been said that the thing about the Internet is that it's just us. It's just us. The people responsible for this sort of thing are a shame on our species, and I hope there is a hell for them to find themselves in, some day.
No real point to this post. I suppose I should move it to the Sewage forum, but I had gotten so used to the idea that people are out there who will use any trick they can think of in order to try and steal from me that it no longer made the impact I think it should make every time I receive one of these things.
Will we ever figure out that we're all just sort of hanging out together on this little rock floating around in an endless sea of empty space? Will we ever figure out that it's in all of our best interests if we just try and get along? Every day people are dying before their time...not just in Iraq, although obviously that's a major contributing factor. Every day people are getting cheated, and harmed. And for every successful attempt, there's hundreds of failed attempts which are all equally disgusting.
I guess I just can't help but think of how much better life we'd ALL have if everyone could be trusted. Imagine getting rid of your keychain...if everyone could be trusted, there'd be no reason to lock your doors. Imagine being able to run your computer without anti-virus and anti-spyware programs. Imagine reading the paper without hearing about the latest suicide bombing. It's not like we all have to be saints...we just all have to be decent, reasonable people. But we're not. Well...95% of us are.
It's a shame that 5% is allowed to ruin everything for the rest of us.
