Anybody have a tree house? I've never had one, but I've always been a tree climber. Since we have a decent amount of property, and a really big tree, my dad and I are planning on building a tree house this spring/summer. I truly can't wait. It's going to be aproximately 200sq ft. Something around 13x16 ft. Going to be about 15ft up in the tree and it is going to be awesome. We are going to make it fully insulated, have glass windows(not just cutouts), and electricity. I don't know about the furnishings, I'm thinking of pillows and blankets since I don't know whether a couple couches would be too heavy.

But here's the kicker... It will have a complete home theater. TV, DVD, surround sound, it's going to be my home away from home but still with in shouting distance of home. I'm getting pretty excited! It will be awesome for having friends over to watch movies. I'll be able to crank up the volume really loud without bothering anyone!

Except the chipmunks and woodpeckers.

No chipmunks, but we've got squirrels! I like the little buggers. We had one as a pet for awhile. He had fallen out of a tall tree as a baby so we nursed it back to health, then released him about 6 months later. He was fun to play with. He'd run up your leg and sit on the top of your head.

hey M4LFUNCT10N, if you need help getting your tv up into the tree house, you can always call on me :) maybe we can have chicken sandwiches afterwards :p

Thats seriously awesome though dude! I built a few forts, most recently about 3 years ago me and my cousin spent the whole summer building a paradise out in my pond (which is in the middle of a little forest. We ferried about 600 pounds of rocks and bricks, as well as a few hundred pounds of gravel, dirt, and as much wood as we could scrounge (also a few of our lawn chairs went amis that summer, there whereabouts are still unkown...to my parents :D). Its a great place. We built our own couches, chopped down trees, shrubs, weeded, made stairs out of the bricks, used the rocks for our floor, and a small dock which we aquired some planters for and grew ferns in. It was awesome! The best place to sit and relax. We had a wrist rocket to make sure nobody came to disturb our relaxation.

We never had modern convienances such as power or windows...well walls or roofs either...but it was nice. We keep toying with the idea of putting in a fridge. It would just be a 50 gallon drum mostly submerged in the water with a lid. ahhh the fun we had.

What's cool about this, is my mom is pushing my dad into it. It's something that will ACTUALLY HAPPEN! I always tried making forts and stuff like this, but I never had the means for it. I always wanted to dig out a little tunnel underground and build a little bunker, but my dad never had the time to help. But now my mom is getting on him. She's going to make him go through with it.

That would be insane. 30+ people in a 13x16ft space! Each person would have less than 7sq ft!

Hohohahaha, Yea, that would be nuts.

But seriously, I can help majorly on the house, my dad is a general contractor (head carpenter type or thing who uses his own tools and has a company) for a living, and we could do some insane work on that thing.

When it's done, I'll for sure have a movie party. Hopefully we won't have too many people come. Might have to have a list.

As for the help, thank you for the offers. However this is going to be a father-son project. It's been a long time since my dad have worked on something together.

Ender and I were thinking it'd be cool to do a movie night when the Return of the King: Extended Edition is released. :D

I wanted to do that before the ROTK. I wanted to watch the first two extended versions back to back, then go to the theater to see the third one right after. But no one was up for that much LOTR!!

Ender and I had tickets to the Cinerama Trilogy event. We were pumped...all ready to go.....until we went on Ebay and saw how much money people were paying to get them. Then I started thinking about how early we would have to get in line in order to get decent seats, and we decided to bag it and cash those babies in. We got a quick $125 each and saw it at a midnight show in Canada.

And then...uh...I saw it at Cinerama the next day.

Smart move! I'd have done the same thing. You see it at Colossus? That's where I saw the second one. Saw the third one down in Burlington.

:confuina:

You'd have to ask Ender....I don't remember the name of the theater. It was pretty nice, and we didn't have to wait in line 6 hours to get reasonable seats. :rup:

Up in Langley? Was it really big inside with an upper level for drinks and desserts?(The Pod). That's where I like to go. Awesome theater, and they have a little mini "Death By Chocolate" upstairs in The Pod.
