So, thinking about this month's LAN... lets get some ideas. We are going to start the tourneys earlier. We will definately have a little more variety. I'm not going to be a Nazi and dictate exactly how everything is going to play, but more or less oversee everything and "guide" it along. There were quite a few people getting burned out on Halo. So we'd like to have some other games too. So with that said, what would you guys like to see?

We will not allow Counter-Strike to be played on the X-Box.

NO!

DON'T EVEN ASK! DON'T EVEN BRING THE GAME! YOU'LL BE EJECTED WITH EXTREME HASTE! DON'T TRY IT! YOU WOULDN'T LIKE ME WHEN I GET ANGRY! I'M SERIOUS! I'M SERIOUSLY SERIOUS! I'M LIKE SERIOUS SAM, I'M SO SERIOUS! NO COUNTER-STRIKE ON THE X-BOXES! IT'S STRICTLY ILLEGAL.

Oh...wait a minute...I just remembered something.......I don't really care what you play.

Well, if enough people brought Ghost Recon, we might try that. The problem with that (as I recall) is you can only have one player per XBox on System Link.

Other than that, I'm not really sure... >_>

Oh! We could try Timesplitters 2! Anybody ever play that on System Link? We could even have a map designing contest or some such.

I tried TS 2 on Gamecube last year. Funny thing happened. That's one of the very few FPS games that make me dizzy and naseaus. No idea what it is about the game. But I can take a few dramamine to cure that.

here is a suggestion:

try a non-FPS

Halo <- FPS:mad:
Counter-Strike <- FPS:mad:
UT2k3 <- FPS:mad:
Ghost Recon <- kind of a FPS:mad:
TS2 <- FPS:mad:

wait, are there any mutliplayer games out there that are 16+ ppl and NOT a shooter?

I'd love to do a Mario Kart tournament, but I don't think there's really any interest in it. *sniff*

please change that avatar, its creeping me out.

but yeah, no one is into those cool kidie games that are on nintendo, its all about the blood, gore, and sex on the xbox/ps2. and the sexies, bloodiest, goreiest games are all FpS

maybe we should whip out a PSone and get a starcraft tourney going :)

I'd be interested in some Mario Kart Double Dash. Granted, I've only played about 1 lap of 1 race of that game (at GameStop), so I wouldn't be great at it... but I ruled at the first two.

That's somethin' I could get down on.

I don't think many games support 16 player system link.

Oh trust me! We will DEFINATELY have some games that aren't FPS. I'm thinking along the lines of a racing game, a fighter, and possibly a sports game. As for sports, I was thinking something that is system link compatible, and 4 players total. Have a 2v2 tourney. Maybe a football game? We could set it up for quick games and do some brackets.

As for the racing game, I like the idea of a CTF in race cars game. We are definately going to have a variety of gaming.

What about Super Smash Bros Melee? Anybody (besides me) have that game?

Mario Golf on the N64 was pretty sweet, and I hear Toadstool Tour is pretty good, so if we have enough interested people there...

On the XBox side of things, I'm not really sure of too many multiplayer games that aren't FPSes or racers... we could do Mortal Kombat perhaps... Brute Force might be good, but I'm not sure how many people it supports. (No, it's not an FPS, it's a third person shooter! Huge difference, HUGE DIFFERENCE! >_>) Uh... I'm already at a loss... I could check a list of XBox games...

Mechwarrior would work. As far as Gamecube goes, if you guys want some sort of tourney, I guess it depends on how many people are interested. Unless it's a significant amount of people, there probably won't be prizes. But honor... now that's something much better than prizes! Just let me know what you're thinking and we'll see what we can do.

Honor's cool.

Yeah the main thing is just getting the tournaments going earlier. I also think a 1 vs 1 tournament is a good idea, i wouldn't mind going for the gold in that. Halo is obviously the game that people are most competitive with, so like a 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2, and 4 vs 4 tournament would be cool. The 4 vs 4 could be like ctf blood gulch or hang em high or something. I don't know, just throwing out suggestions.
