Looking for a new place to have the next lan?
Will the X-boxers bring enough players to take over the event?

We'll probably stick around at that location for one more. Assuming we continue to grow, April will likely see a hotel conference room.

Is the only way to pre-pay through PayPal?
My mom's skeptical when it comes to things like paying through the internet. Or, you know, being sane.
Speaking of which, I'm not even sure if I'll get to go to the LAN, because she might think you guys are a cult or something.

We are a cult aren't we?
Definition Cult:
An organization where followers or members worship a single leader.
Well, everyone worships me don't they? Or if not me, then Dave - though highly unlikely - ???
bwuahahah jk, I'm not actually sure what the definition of the word is, but I think I heard sometime once that it was something along those lines. :)

I've always wanted my own cult.
I demand....er...I mean.....the DARK lord of REALLY DARK and DARKNESS demands that everyone take of their shoes, hop on one foot, and drink a strawberry wine cooler.

Well, I'm all about joining cults.
But, like, she's not supposed to know it's a cult. And stuff.
>_>
<_<
We've gotta be subtle in our cult references. Or something.

Just some info, alcoholism has nothing to do with how much you drink. You could drink 1 beer a week and be an alcoholic. It's the need for it that makes you one. As long as you aren't abusing it I don't see the problem. If you were drinking 2-5 beers a night... we'll send you to AA! Lot's of alcoholism in my family too.

Not that I personally drink...I don't like the idea of losing my inhibitions, but that's just because I'm a bit of a control freak. ;)
Hey..maybe getting plastered would do me some good!
Nah.

m4LFUNC, its more then just that, its cause
A) i believe in my religion (which has b& drinking)
2) cause its one of the things which my mom made me promise to nevar do (that and gambling, the grandad smoked, gambled, and drunk the family money away)
3) because DiscoDave is such a stong influence in my life
and speaking of DiscoDave, it sounds like Dave had a bad experience with the booze himself?
and M4L, i'd like the thank you for caring enough to send me to an AA meeting if it ever got that bad; someday i will return the favor

No... definately not a good idea! I'm all about moderation. I'll drink a beer or two, but that's it. Or a hard drink or two, but I don't typically drink in excess. Although I have made a mistake.
This last summer... I split a fifth of Tequila with a couple of girls. We finished it in under 20 minutes. Let's just say I got puked on shortly after. The three of us were bent over the tub puking for awhile. I guess a few things happened in between, but the three of us have vague recollections of what happened.

ahh, you don't have to worry about returning the favor. I don't touch drugs, don't smoke(except for the occasional cigar with the guys), and my drinking is pretty rare. I'll have a beer or a glass of wine when we go out to dinner. And I'll maybe have 1 or 2 drinks a week.

I went to an AA meeting once. The beer at the bar after the meeting sure tasted good.
But all joking aside. I did have a drinking problem for a while. It took the death of a friend (drunk driving) to make me change my ways.
I still drink. I just don't dive if I have had more than a couple beers. I used to drive so messed up that I would wear sunglasses at night to try and stop the double vision. I don't miss the blackouts, and other "fun" stuff.

Umm, yeah. That's the problem. They weren't hot. They were a couple of my best friends. But luckily we were all in the same boat. I guess I was kinda sucking on the neck of one, while the other was sucking on the hand of the same girl. The last thing I remember was one of the girls asking me, "do you want to make out". I said I didn't really care, so she said, "well, I don't want to make out with you unless you want me to". Lucky for me. Cause that would have been REALLY weird the next day.

Well....actually, yes. I once felt the dark side of the force flow through my veins and gave in to the primal desire and had two glasses of wine.
It was really bad wine. Really.
That's the only time I've ever had any alcohol, aside from cooking stuff and the occasional cough syrup if I have cold symptoms that prevent me from sleeping.
The thing about me was I have a sister who is 5 years older than me, and I was growing up, she made EVERY POSSIBLE MISTAKE a human being can MAKE.
Big time into drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, high school dropout, pregnant by 17, married the father for none of the right reasons and all of the wrong ones....the list goes on and on.
And then there was me, watching silently, making a little mental list of what not to do in life. She was like my own private little crash test dummy. :D

I could easily get 2 of my friends to sign up for xbox, and i might sign up for pc as well depending on if CoD is played and depending on how mcuh i like it. (i bought it yesterday). Only beef i have is no ctf. I like ctf especially in online games because it stops people from camping, i mean they still camp but it doesn't relaly get them anywhere. Also when you die, you respawn with 10 seconds or so. In CoD i play search and destroye and thats like counter strike, if you die, you gotta wait til the round is over. And i am a noob at teh game, so i die alot and its hard to get better when you only get to play for like 30 seconds then you sit out for like 2 minutes.

That's why I haven't gotten into Counterstrike. I play for 30 seconds, find that I'm too agressive and get shot before my teammates. Then I get to watch them play till the round is over. Not my kind of fun.
ghrogels
03-03-2004, 08:26 AM
yeah, in counter-strike your not allowed to go all balls out and live, which is kind of a drag. in order to be any good you have to be somewhat of a lamer and let other people die so that you knokw where the bad guys are, and so that you can bait your teammates so that you get kills.
also the best way to get good at CS is not to play CS itself (at least to get good at the PC version) but instead play Quake 3/UT2k3 and get really good with the rail gun or lightening gun, which is also really lame. + at the same time keep track of where all the bots are on the map
there is also a CS FFA server-side mod out there that helps too, but its too chaotic to just pick up (for PC).
