I think we should setup one party with teams in seperate rooms. that would be cool. Maby somewhere with better ventelation if you know what I mean. I also think we should make up a BLE PARTY!!!!! I have got 80 acers plus the nooksack. I think that would be cool. Instead of all this fake shoot either up we should go PAINTBALLING!!!!!!!!!! Maby a little mudding??? Just a thought for the future.

wow! I'm down for the muddin! My truck needs a (mud)bath. If we do, I'm going to need to get my other locker installed. I keep putting it off. Need the traction!

yah. If we dont go verry far I can take my truck. I dont have any tabs. Or insurance. Or a title. I just take it out in my field. What kinda truck do you drive??? I have a 77 chevy custom deluxe 10 with 4X4 and a 350 small block and a 4 barrol carb.

hehe tyler...you might have missed that BLE has gatherings (non LAN parties) every other month. We just barely had a bowling event (see write up on the front page) and we'll be doing go karts in mount vernon in April. Then in June we're going paintballing. :)

Never fear, for once its released, I shall own one of these! :D

What ever you do dont get the flatline for the a5. they suck. I played aginst a guy who had one of those and it wasent even an improvment. It makes the ball back spin. Wich means less speed and it climbs. Worse arc. I have got a spyder TL plus with a revolution hopper, 20oz tank, remote, and progressive sniper barrol. I could probley get my hands on a spyder flash with a halo hopper and full auto. :woot:

Damn Bomber.. thats a sweet gun, I have a Tippman Custom with ACI subzero CO2 system, and a flatline barrel, with a 16oz. tank.
I think my gas line has a leak in it though... I need to get it fixed >_<
Any reccomendations for upgrades ? ^_^

I have a 69 Bronco. 302, detroit locker, 35" BFGs and a 4 speed tranny. It needs a little work but I am thinking of selling it instead. Just to lazy to list it somewhere and deal with all the people.

Yah. Depending where you air leak is. Go with a coiled remote and a 20oz tank. they are practley the same size as the 16 just you can hold more. I would get a nice hopper too. It really helps in the long run with anti-jam and choppin of the balls. also get a nice bolt. I dont know much about the tippmans but I know a crap load about Spyder. I also love armotech. You should cheak out the gun I am hopefuley gonna but this summer. http://www.armotech.com/sim4RISELITE.asp I sove the feel of em. They are also made for the military. Not a biginer gun. And what ever you do DONT BUY BRASS EAGLE. The worst parts and paint you could buy. Spyder makes some really good beginner guns for about 50 or so bucks. If you want to know more just talk to me later.

Definately go Spyder. I used to have a Hammer-A with a 12oz tank, scope, and a silencer. And I had a Spyder SE with a 20oz tank, coiled remote with quick disconnect and slide check valve, Dye 14" aluminum barrel, and I had a laser mounted for awhile(kept getting smacked around so I took it off).
One thing to do, is to punch out your safety button. I've never had any problems with refs as far as this goes, and it will definately save you on the field. I've been with people that forgot to push the safety off, or dove into some bushes and the safety was turned on by a branch. You NEVER want to be in the thick of it only to miss a shot because your gun was on safety. Punch it out and never look back.
Oh, and get a quality 4+1 holster(4 ammo tube pouches and one tank pouch). It always sucks to run out of ammo. And people get pissed if they are constantly supplying you with ammo on the field. The down side, you WILL go through more paint. You forget to conserve because you have so much with you, and then you realize that you went through 400rds in one 20 minute game.

Dont for get you will run your wallet dry if you dont take proper care of you gun too. Like regular oil and stuff like that. How much did you pay for you silencer. Whatever it was it was too much. They are way too easy to build for PAINTBALL and they dont even make the quiet enough for me to care about them. No offence.

also get deasent paint. I like marabilizer. But its a little outa my proce range. I usuialey use some 2nd grade or 1st grade. also the paint gernads SUCK!!!! They dont do anything unless you are in pretty much an open room. But then whats the point. I just perfur to light the room up.
M4LFUNCT10N
02-26-2004, 08:06 PM
Paid $10 for the silencer. Could have sold it for $20 or so to a few people that really wanted it. I think it depends on the gun. On my Hammer, all you could hear was the paint smacking against the target. Really hard to hear where it was coming from. But I agree, after looking at it and taking it apart, I could make one for a few bucks.
I agree on the paint. I always used black and green marbalizer. Nothing else. I tried some other paint one day and I had way too many chops. I agree on the price. I think I paid $74 for a case down in Cali. And I went through that whole case and two refills of CO2. Needless to say I spent $100 that day including lunch.
**edit**
Where the heck does the hopper connect on the SIM-4???
UB_Bomber
02-26-2004, 08:09 PM
There is a connection of the top. Its behind the sight rail. And my old spyder can handel crappy paint. But no lower than 2nd grade.

Hey Excessive, does it have pwr brakes, and pwr steering? And is the tranny auto or std?
Aww just thinking about it makes me want to get one again so bad. I loved mine and miss it terribly. It was a '76, pwr brakes / steering, 302, C4 auto, 33" tires w/ a 3 1/2" Rancho lift. Gawd it was so much fun down in moab.

Gahh, i get alot of conflicting views about the flatline, it is meant to backspin that's why it goes so far, its not meant for accuracy or anything.
I use 15$ allstars, they work great, stop by fosters paintball and pick some up.
I want to see that silencer, see how it works.

I sold all my gear last year... sorry! Got $350 for it all. Not bad IMO.
Very easy to make. Take a PVC pipe that is hard to squeeze on the end of your barrel but possible. Cut lots out of the pipe. Make it look like there are tons and tons of holes through it. Get some medium density foam and wrap it around the pipe covering all the holes. put an O ring on both sides of the foam, and get another pipe that is just smaller on the inner diameter than the O rings, and shove it on. So you end up with a pipe inside a pipe. The foam absorbs almost all the sound.
UB_Bomber
02-26-2004, 08:44 PM
I like cotton. And not using o rings. If you get a cap that fits the bigger pice of pipe then make the smaller one just a little bit longer and cutting a hole in the cap it works better. There is more room for the sound to go.

Cool, my goal for my gun is going to be.
Stock
Scope (some form of one, whether is red dot, laser, scope...)
Remote Co2
Nice barrel
Egrip (fully auto)
bipod
RIS rail system
Carrying strap
custom milled parts for it (scope offset so the scope doesnt see the hopper)

Hmm, I see, you guys wanna bring your guns to show off at the LAN? I would like to see your Spyder (dont even think about twisting that one around...) And what is your opinion on Freak Barrels? I was thinking of getting one and replacing my flatline, the stock barrel on the Tippan-98 custom already puts backspin in... so i dont really need a flatline...

02-27-2004, 02:57 PM
the "stock" barrel? THE STOCK BARREL, THE LITTLE 8 INCH PUSSY BARREL????!!!! Damn first thing i got with my 98 custom was a 15 inch barrel, the only time i used the stock one was once when i was on a gocart and things were a lil cramped.

My roommates and I all went paintballing. I think nothing is cooler than catching a paintball right between the eyes (When you have your mask on, of course)... it's just a cool sensation.
We went out to the SemperFi paintball place, north of B-Ham. My roommate Brandon caught a shot right in the junk. It was classic.

Hey Hey I should have my ski boat up and ready to go by this summer too.
M4LFUNCT10N
03-09-2004, 01:29 PM
We're hoping to have our boat repowered this spring. We had the whole outdrive rebuilt, and we've been having engine problems since(never ending problems!!!). So we are looking at dropping a 350 small block and having the gears in the outdrive swapped to match. If everything goes well, we'll have a KICK'N boat this summer. It's a 22' Glasply(cruiser/fishing boat). And with the repower it would have plenty of power for wakeboarding/waterskiing, and it has a MASSIVE wake.
UB_Bomber
03-09-2004, 01:37 PM
Yah. I have a 19.5 foot seaswril and it is all set up 4 a 4 banger. I think I am just gonna stick with one of those for this summer with all the gas prices. It has a nice wake and has plenty of power for wake boarding. I wanna go to a junker auction and find a boat with a broken hull, buy it and take the outdrive and the inboard off it and put it on my boat. By the way I think a 350 would be a little heavy for a 22'. They are nemy for onley like 3000 lbs. A 350 weighs about 1000 lbs alone. there fore you would be a little heavy in the bake end and you might have to watch out about the traylor too. The supports and all.
M4LFUNCT10N
03-09-2004, 02:12 PM
From what I've always understood, the small blocks are really light. I thought the crate motors were less than 650 lbs. Am I mistaken here? And judging by looks, the current 4 banger in there is just as big as my old 351.
UB_Bomber
03-09-2004, 02:27 PM
I dont know. I may be wrong but that could also be because its a creat motor and its made out of cast alumnium. I have an old one in my awesome chevy pickup and I think its made out of cast iron. Dont forget you cant out a car engine in a boat. The water housing jacket has to be bigger or else I would of put our old 350 in there befor we got rid of it. The fresh cold water will crack the block if its not ment for it. It has to be a marine motor.
M4LFUNCT10N
03-09-2004, 02:31 PM
Ahh, the temperature of the water is the only thing I haven't thought about. It might be too cold for the engine... But then again, what about all those boats that people used to have? The ones that had the big engines sitting in the back completely exposed?
UB_Bomber
03-09-2004, 02:35 PM
Water is pumped in through the outboard. That is how it is kept cool. It is like having a radieator that never heats up. Get what I mean?
M4LFUNCT10N
03-09-2004, 02:37 PM
This is the same motor in someone else's boat. Oh yeah, our heat exchanger is larger than this one's.

M4LFUNCT10N
03-09-2004, 02:38 PM
ahh, I guess you didn't understand. Our motor is an inboard/outboard. Not a regular outboard.
UB_Bomber
03-09-2004, 02:40 PM
That is a marine motor. Notice there is no radieator? Where do you think the radieator went to??? It pumps the water straight from the lake into the water housing jacket wich goes around the block. If its not a marine motor it the cold water will crack the block. :grumpy:
UB_Bomber
03-09-2004, 02:41 PM
I know what an inboard out board is. I am just saying putting a 350 crate engine wont work. It has to be a marine motor!
M4LFUNCT10N
03-09-2004, 02:47 PM
Okay so we are almost on the same page.... I wasn't talking about running the water straight into the block. I was thinking about reusing the heat exchanger with the chevy motor. So as far as I understand, the only things that need to be changed are new hoses for the heat exchanger to the block, new motor mounts, possibly a new fuel pump(if I need a higher rated one), and then new gearing in the outdrive that matches up with the motor. And this will basically be the same list whether it's a V8 or a V6.
UB_Bomber
03-09-2004, 02:49 PM
SOOOO you goin to use a radieator then???:spock:
M4LFUNCT10N
03-09-2004, 02:53 PM
No..... I was thinking that I'd mate up the hoses that are on the heat exchanger. Basically a heat exchanger sucks in cold water, and runs it in a jacket around a hose containing the coolant for the engine. It's a water to water coolant method. I was thinking that you should be able to just disconnect the hoses from the MerCruiser and mate them up to the new engine. The only part I don't know is the efficiency/what it takes to cool the V8 vs what the heat exchanger can provide.
Is my logic flawed here? It seems to work well in my head.
M4LFUNCT10N
03-09-2004, 03:09 PM
Okay, so I found a page with lots of people posting their oppinions(heated debate :) ). It sounds like the main problem is gearing in the outdrive. The engines are the same, but the marine versions are "detuned". They are detuned to make them last longer. It's all about efficiency and how in a marine application there is more stress on the motor(not a rolling load). Here's a good quote:
"We are currently building two boats, both commercial fishing work boats; and are about to buy an engine for one of them. It will most likely be a Cummins B5.9 in one of its many versions. This is the same engine Ford used to offer in their pickup trucks, and Dodge currently offers. Cummins is telling me that they will rate it for
150 hp in our boat, but it is rated at 220-250 in its various automotive applications, and it is offered in a 300 hp version for recreational marine uses that do not exceed 300 hours per year. To put this into perspective, a pickup truck running flat and level at 75 mph without a trailer will require about 50 hp. The same truck with perhaps a 10,000 lb. gross load would require most of the 220 hp. The same engine in a 25 foot sport fishing boat would probably cruise at about 200-230 hp.
"

My freinds boat has a 350 in it. The water comes in through some sort of heat exchanger. The exhaust goes through it to pre-heat the incoming water.
UB_Bomber
03-09-2004, 10:00 PM
I dont know. 350s take a lot of cooling. I dont know how well a heat exchanger would take all that heat. I think if your going to spend that kinda money on a motor y not just go and get the motor that is ment for the application.
M4LFUNCT10N
03-09-2004, 10:23 PM
My reason for even considering this motor in the first place was the cost. You can get a new crate motor 350 for $1,000. A new MerCruiser 470(cheapest motor to replace mine, same one) is something like $2,500, and it's underpowered.
My other reason was having an engine I can work on myself. The current motor is near impossible to work on.
UB_Bomber
03-15-2004, 03:11 PM
I am just saying forget it and I am gonna 4600 to get a replacement and have a pro put it in so I can just say forget the headach of all the little problems and just get going. Plus I done work on many boats.
M4LFUNCT10N
03-15-2004, 05:00 PM
Ok well, I'd love to have a marine engine.... if it works.
We've had this boat in the shop soooo many times, it's ridiculous. We've had it for probably 7 years now, and we've only taken it out probably 6 times. I would rather be the one working on the boat than have the boat be in the shop after every time we take it out.
