But you'd prolly like that, because it would help your candidate. ;)

If I were elected President, one of my main focuses would be honesty and integrity. I would tell the country what I was doing and why I would be doing it. If it turned out that I did something wrong or my reason turned out to be unjustified then I wouldn’t try to hide this fact; rather, I’d embrace it, re-explain my position and publicly apologize (both to the country and to the world).
I’d first focus on domestic affairs and fix the problems that are affecting our nation FIRST, before concerning ourselves with the problems of the international community. However I would be in favor of building alliances and generally creating strong bonds with other nations. I would keep our military the best trained and most effective military that the world has, but it would also be mainly a defense force. We would never “preemptively” attack anyone, rather, we would only attack someone in retaliation to an attack done to us. Once we discerned who the country or group was that attacked us, we’d reserve the right to use anything short of nuclear weaponry to ensure that said country/group could never attack anyone ever again.
I’d focus on improving the United State’s role in the United Nations, and even expanding the United Nation’s jurisdiction. Sooner or later the world will need a single sovereignty, so why not work towards that goal now? I would fight for nuclear disarmament and lead by example: we would be the first nation to start disarming our nuclear weaponry.
Domestically, I haven’t really looked at the economy or taxes, so I can’t really give you any idea of what I’d do there. (I need more education in those fields.) However, I think it makes more sense to have a single percentage tax rate at the end of the year (for example, 8% of your income) as opposed to having sales tax and all those other kinds of taxes.
::EDIT:: About the nuclear thing... I wouldn't get rid of all our nukes if no one else is disarming. Rather, I'd set up a sort of "checkpoint" system with the rest of the world. By January 20xx, we have this many nukes... by June, we have this many... and so forth. The idea is that all the countries work together at the same time to disarm, rather than (how it goes on currently) a bunch of countries with nukes tell other countries they aren't allowed to have nukes (kind of a weird double standard, no?).
::EDIT:: I forgot about my other important thing!! I'd work to change the way elections work in the country. In my honest opinion, the party system just doesn't work. It provides a lazy way out of politics: you vote Bush because you're Republican or you vote Kerry because you're Democrat. Not only that, you can't tell me there isn't corruption due to the way campaigning is funded. Instead, I'd have elections run semi-regionally. Any candidate that has enough support from his home city can run for President... first, each state would "elect" it's own candidate. The only way candidates could "campaign" is either through interviews or debates at colleges. Money for this would mostly be provided to the college through the federal government, and anything extra must be provided by VOLUNTEER money from INDIVIDUALS and not corporations. Once each state has elected a candidate, a small region will elect one, then a slightly larger one, and so forth until their are 8 major regions that have candidates. From there on, the debates and interviews are televised nationally and printed nationally (before that, they are only televised locally/printed locally and only locals can vote for thier candidates). At that point you can vote for whoever you want, and the candidates keep getting whittled down until two are left and then you have the real election.
I haven't really looked into the Electoral College but something smells fishy about it so I'll have to look into it more to see if it needs changing.
::EDIT:: IN CLOSING, we have to realize that America is still a young nation. The people who founded it were descendants of people who had been wrong in the past. The same people who forged the Constitution also forged other technologies and sciences that have since proved obsolete. Their genius resides in the fact that they left the Consitution flexible so that if future mistakes were found, they could be rectified. It is the semi-flexible nature of our country that makes it so great. We cling too fiercely to the idealogies of the past and it is now time to move forward. The ideas of the late 18th century do not apply to the world of the early 21st century.

I used to be a real big Primus fan - been to many a concert. Before Herb quit (his last album was Tales from the punchbowl) they were a real power trio. Les is one of the most inventive bass player (and extremely skilled and talented) ever, and Larry was a perfect match on guitar. Herb's drums - well I put him on par with Carter Buford and Neal Purt. :rup:
But after Herb left the band and they got Brain - eh, it wasn't the same sound. Brain's beats were simpler, which didn't mesh with the complex bass lines Les put out so it tweaked the songs in a bad way imo. But that old stuff is still top notch. :rup:

Correction: British Soldiers.
And again, another reference to the war of 1812 and the Canadian Colony of Britain beating America without the mention of the absolute slaughter that Andrew Jackson's army gave the Brits in the south - which was the reason why we won the war.

Correction: British Soldiers.
They were British forces but Canadian soldiers. Those soldiers later became the people that made Canada. At the time they were British. We're both right zomg!
Also, we didn't win the war due to Jackson... we got Florida due to Jackson. As I recall, the war was ended because there were more pressing matters for England to attend to in the Old World. Remember the victory cry for the war? "Not an inch lost or ceded!" IE... "We didn't lose!" It was hardly a victory.

They can say what they want but they ended the war right after Jackson obliterated them.

His exploits in Florida were mostly against the Spanish. He did kick some British ass, but, (I'm gonna have to look this up tonight when I do APUSH homework, I hate you) I'm almost 98% sure there was some shit going on with France that caused the British to want a cease fire. I'm also pretty sure that if Britain really wanted to, they could've squelched us.
