start => run => msconfig => Startup => uncheck crap you don't want.

Next time you reboot, anything unchecked won't load up. If for some reason msconfig doesn't exist (it's not in ALL windows versions, but I forget which ones), you can also get to it via the registry.

Start => run => regedit => local system => software => microsoft => windows => current version => run

That's by memory, so I might have mixed locations up.

you can also download ms config off the internet and install it on your sys if you don't want to reg edit. there is also a better ms config out there, check out www.techtv.com . they mention crap like this all the time on one of their shows

but alas, you're going to have to do your own research to find it, as some people around here are to lazy to put the fud in your hand.
