Okay, I don't mean to piss anyone off, but why play console? That's a question that has plagued me forever, whats better about console then PC? Besides the price, but even then, most people who own a console own a PC before so why spend the money on another "computer". There aren't as many good games and you can get controllers for computers? Why console?

For me it's a nice distraction. Most people prolly played consoles before they played pcs. That was me, it took X-wing and TIE fighter to get me off my console gaming. But I still enjoy a good console game now and again. Take Soul Calibur II for example. No such game exists for PC's that I've seen, especially for multiplaying. And that game is hella fun.
I used to be huge into James Bond back in the N64 days, course the PC fps are better, but there's something about the ease of getting four people together and getting the fps action on a single tv that's appealing. I personally like PC's better, but I can understand how consolers get attached. If you know the console controls better, then adjusting to PC controls can be really difficult.

Fighting (Soul Calibur 2), adventure (Zelda), and racing games (Gran Turismo) have always been better on consoles. If those are the games you like, you probably think consoles kick ass.
On the other hand, first person shooters (BF1942), and real-time strategy (Warcraft) are better on PCs.
Console games have an advantage because they sell way more copies than PC games, thus justify more work. They're also custom made for specific hardware, so you never have to worry about frame rate and stuff. They don't have a mouse, however, and their graphics are limited to say the least. ;)

Coming from a lower-middle class family, and a small town (pop: ~9,000) the easier, cheaper route was the console system. Because this was the cheaper and easier route, most everyone I knew had a console... only a handful played PC games. By the time computers were cheap enough for our family to own, I had already purchased an N64 and a Playstation... I was in too deep.
As it is, I look at PC gaming with a bit of hesitation. Sure, I like the customization offered through mods and what not, but I don't like the idea that two years from now, my system may not be able to handle the latest, greatest game.... On the console side, I don't have to worry about that. Every three or four years I may buy a new console system for ~$250, but I'll definitely get my money's worth out of that...
But I guess it all comes down to what you're used to. I could probably do alright on a PC FPS, but I'd much rather have that Controller-S in my hand instead of a mouse and keyboard...

I've always been a fan of playing games with friends. None of my friends play computer games, and if they did, they wouldn't be willing to take their computer with them. With a console, everybody plays together. Only need one for 4 people. Big + there.

I play both PC and console games. I play Soldier of Fortune 2 very competitively online and what not and i enjoy the mouse and keyboard. But i do also like playong consoles, because you can have your friends there, and most of my friends have shitty computers or own a dumb mac, or even 56k and what not. Console multiplayer is more personally sociable, i guess.

I'd play computer games more, if I had a better computer. For me, it's basically an issue of cost.
Also, I grew up on console gaming and have only just recently started playing PC games (because I finally got a computer that could play games about 2 years ago... before, I had a 150 Mhz dinosaur, and now I have a fairly decent 1.53 Ghz comp) but I still can't play very graphic intensive games due to the lack of a good video card. As I have no real source of income (you know, being 15 and such) I can't really upgrade my computer.
Computers have a lot better RTS and FPS games (as many have mentioned before) and often better RPGs. Multiplayer is also better on computers (because of access to the internet), but consoles do have their merits. I think they have better action, and racing games. Also, there are a slew of awesome singler player games on the console side of things too. Console RPGs (though I've mostly grown out of them) can be pretty good and often tell a good story. At the very least, they give you 40-50 solid hours of gaming.
Yeah, that post was probably pretty rambly and pointless... >_> Probably because I'm trying to listen to a teacher and write this at the same time. Basically, I think both PCs and consoles have their merits, and why not play both, hm?

By any chance do you have a class with Stu Soderquist or do you see him(He's a teacher if you didn't know)? I'd like to get a hold of him some time to chat and see how he's doing.

No, I don't have a class with him (yet) but I probably will here shortly (driver's ed). I do have a class right next to him, if that counts. >_>

He is AWESOME for Driver's Ed. Definately a fun class. I made sure that all my drives were with him. If you have Saturday morning drives, bring some money for breakfast. You'll usually go through the McDonalds drive through ;) He had to have been my favorite teacher. Definately a standup guy.

I'm not really a morning person. >_> I would've taken driver's ed earlier, but my mom is nervous about getting me my permit for some reason. It's not like I'm going to wreck her car... on purpose.
Did you ever have Mr. Atkins? He's probably my favorite teacher right now.
Of course, I'm only a freshman so I haven't had very many teachers...
Also, Mr. Mansfield is a pretty cool guy, but he's new this year so you (probably) wouldn't know him. I have him for debate (which is why I'm still at school right now).

Hmm, Atkins. He a PE teacher? Sounds really familiar. I think I had him my frosh year. A lot of the teachers I've had are probably gone by now. My second favorite teacher was unfortunately falsely accused of some sort of sex scandal(no one ever got ALL) the facts. But basically the drum major had a major crush on him, and he refused her advances. She came back with some allegations which forced him to leave. Later they found that everything was made up but the damage was done. That was Mark Patterson.

Atkins is a math teacher.
And I didn't think that that kinda stuff happened in good ol' B'ham. It's too bad that it happened to him, and pretty crappy that the girl LIED. You'd think they'd let him have his job back if she admitted to lying or some such... I hope he's not jobless or anything because of that girl. He was the band teacher I take it?
Also, was the girl a student or another teacher? (Wasn't quite clear from "drum major")

Student. Damage was already done. Unfortunately, allegations have the ability to ruin you whether you are innocent or not. Look at OJ Simpson. I have absolutely no idea whether he is guilty or not. He was acquitted. But most people call him a murderer. His reputation has been ruined.
Anyway, Mr. Patterson works as a Manager for Haggen. At least that was the last I heard.
