BLE Gathering: October

BLE's next gathering will be to attend a screening of Team America: World Police, the marionette movie from the makers of South Park. More information can be found on imdb (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0372588/). Be sure to check out the trivia section. ;)

Movie times have not been announced yet, but expect a 7:00 show on the 15th of October in Bellingham, and we'll likely storm a nearby restaurant for desert after the show. More details as we get closer to the show.

I dunno, a movie like this has ridiculosity written all over that...why wouldn't you want to see a movie that shouldn't be taken seriously? We need more of those methinks. :yes:

I don't like comedy movies very much. I watch them, but not that often. If I watch comedy it's probably either unintentional or like 80s cheesy stoof. I'm not a huge South Park fan, either. The shows are funny, but overall they're just really stupid.

The shows are funny, but overall they're just really stupid.

The word stupid made me post as well... You'd be surprised how <reallybolditalicandneon>SMART</reallybolditalicandneon> the South Park series is... Their social commentary is cutthroat, cunning, and (what's another C word?) clever.

On the surface the show may seem STUPID, but if you get the messages of the episodes, you'll see how clever they are. One example is the episode dealing with Spielberg and Lucas re-releasing their films with added/deleted content - the kids hijack the original Indiana Jones movie so Spielberg/Lucas won't edit the film. Then, they hide it.

"We'll put it in a place where no one will ever find it."
::: camera pulls back revealing a vast wherehouse full of wooden crates. As the camera pulls farther back, a sign is revealed that reads: "Red Cross: 9/11 Relief" :::

Excuse my little rant... my point is, it's subtle humor like that that makes South Park rather "smart" - and not so stupid.

Hmmmm. I might go. Depends if I have stuff going on. But it sounds like fun! South Park is hilarious imo and although I hate puppet shows hopefully the comedy will surpass the poor quality of the characters :)

Either of the two Bellingham theaters. I don't know which one it will be playing at, because they won't update their list. :mad:

I'm guessing it'll be at the mall one, beings as they only have 3 movies listed for a 6 screen theater.
