Ok, here's the deal: We need AT LEAST 4 xbox's and 4 tvs. Post in here if you're going to bring anything or if you know of anyone bringing anything. Please please please LABEL your stuff. :)
As it stands, BLE is bringing a Gamecube and will supply a projector screen. It will have MANY uses among being used for the consoles.
Also list any games. BLE will rent any games necessary but it would be nice to have them brought by the gamers.
Set up for the LAN is Friday night at 9:00 pm. If you are bringing an xbox and a tv and you can't make that please let us know in this thread and let us know when on Saturday you will be arriving.

I don't know yet if I'll be able to make the Friday night deadline. But I'll be there early in the morning Sat. Here's a question, what's the deal with sound as far as the Xbox'ers go? I know as far as PC you've said no speakers. I'll list everything I'm bringing, doesn't mean I'll use everything.
I will be bringing:
27" TV
Digital Decoder
5.1 Surround sound speakers (and a pair of headphones)
Xbox
5 controllers( 1 is a backup)
8-port Switch(hopefully, I gotta meet up with a friend from BC to pick it up)
Ethernet cable
Games:
Xbox magazine demo disks 17-29
Matt Hoffman's Pro BMX 2
Transworld Surf
SSX Tricky
Amped
GTA3
GTA: Vice City
Counter Strike
Unreal Championship
Halo
I might rent a game or two also.

DamN! lotsa stuff!
Ok, try and be there by 9:00 am if you can Saturday so it can be set up before the masses show up. ;)
Don't forget to label everything too. ;)
As far as sound goes it's a given that you really can't keep the xbox noise down. That's really the main reason why the PCers bring headphones: 1 to shut the other noise out, and 2 so that there isn't 30 pcs competing with 4 tvs. :) All that should be fine, but we'll probably want to keep it down a bit or we'll put that sweet 5.1 system in the little room next to the main room for surround sound gaming. :) :rup:

The Surround Speakers might go nicely with the projector unit. :hump:

yes, it's a shame he can't come friday night so we could have some nice good music to go with the setup. :)

Well, it's not a full home theater system, so we won't have to worry too much. The decoder is the Sound Blaster Extigy, and the speakers are the Creative 5300 5.1 setup. I have to say it was the smartest $200 I have spent on home audio! I bought it so I could have 5.1 sound on my laptop, but it also has Optical In/Out and SPDIF In/Out. So it's hooked up to my Xbox, laptop, my DVD player, and tomorrow I'll be adding a Digital Cable box to the mix. Even in decent sized family rooms the sound is loud enough to piss off anyone in adjacent rooms. I've never tried it in large conference room, but let's just say these little speakers kick out more than you'd think. I'll probably rent a racing game. Maybe Project Gotham Racing 2. I'll just have to see what they have.

I can probably swing it. I was just thinking that I'd get some last minute practicing in..... But it's all for fun. Heck, I'm sure all of us setting up could take a break or two to practice. ;) Ah, I'm sold. I'll be there Friday night.

nice M4L! I've got those same speakers, only I don't have the extigy...just an internal card for my PC audigi. I plan on going the same route though by the end of the year though for my laptop. :)

Well, you'll get to hear the setup before you buy. Unless you are planning on getting one of the other external soundcards. There's another one out that supports 7.1 surrond. And it has 2db greater clarity, 100db S/N vs 102db S/N. Which I think is a pretty big accomplishment.

What I Can Bring:
- 27" TV
- X-Box
- 4 S-Type Controllers, 2 "Burgers" (the big controllers).
- Games:
--- Counter Strike
--- Halo
HOWEVER: I'd really rather not bring my TV. It's not a great TV, the picture quality is pretty fuzzy (makes splitscreen pretty annoying).
And, I won't be able to make that deadline Friday night.
My car broke down this weekend, and I have people coming up from all over the state to stay at my apartment, so I need to stay and make sure they make it okay.

You'll find sooo many uses for the Extigy. My TV is one of those crappy single speaker, no outputs, only coax in, Walmart specials. That's the whole reason I'm getting the digital cable. The HD cable box has an optical output so I can hook it up to my Extigy for 5.1 sound on the HD channels, and stereo on the regular channels.
WHOO HOO!!! $15 extra/month. I figure I will make that back in fewer movie rentals.

Don't worry Stu! I'll bring my 2.2" color TV. You'll get a whole .5x.5 screen in splitscreen!

02-22-2004, 09:09 PM
Ok.. that was insane. I just tried playing The Pillar of Autumn, on Legendary on the 2.2. I got my butt whooped! Oh wait, I always get my butt whooped on Legendary. ;)
Just for kicks I tested split screen. If you didn't have to be 4 inches from the screen, it would work. But the real competition would be fighting over the screen!
Even on split screen(4-way) you can still make out all the land marks, weapons, and other people!
Maybe this could be one of the tournaments!

Me and my brother will be bringing an xbox and atleast 4 controllers. Also a 23 in TV. Its small but the picture quality is really damn good on it. My bro just bought it a few months ago specifically for our system link. It's perfect for 2 people, i don't know about 4. We've done 3, but i always get the top when we play so i woudln't know.

what projector is going to be at this thing. I have one too but its in the service center now. The tv is actually 20", so its small but it is pretty new and I have the xbox hooked up via component cables. We'll bring it but if you think its too small we'll leave it at home, or save it for 2vs2 games or something. Will we need to bring lan cables or anything?

I offer my 27" TV for the LAN (as well as my X-Box, controllers, and games)...
BUT I won't make the Friday night deadline, and probably won't be there until the afternoon on Saturday... if this isn't good enough, let me know, we'll try to work something out.
Ender
02-23-2004, 08:25 PM
No it's fine Stu...we should have enough supplies to get us by until you get there...so bring it!
And Bandit go ahead and bring your 20, better safe than sorry. :)
And the projector, I don't know what kind, but it's hella tight. :) If you have one you'd like to bring go right ahead! ;) But don't stress if it's in the shop. ;)

We're not going to need Cat-5 cables and a router are we? Those will be provided?

For the X-Boxes, they'll be provided. Computer people are expected to bring their own network cabling.

Should have bought Halo used at EB. EB has a policy on ALL used games. They cost nearly the same price as new, but if they EVER have DDE's, or any sort of problem, they will replace the game for free. Better warranty than new games!

Superdude it's ok. I think we'll be fine, but not sure yet. I need to go through this thread and write up another with all the info. Looks like plenty of xbox's though.
As far as cat5. If you have it please bring it because as we have a TON of it it usually gets all used up somehow between the PCs and the servers and stuff. We have a switch to linking but if M4L brings the one he's trying to then we'll just have ours as an extra for just in case. :)

I also have got a sweet setup for surround sound. 2 15" fisher in the front and 2 12" marrantz in the back. I can piss off neibhors for 1/2 mile away. But I dont think I can bring that. It took me an hour to get just half of it out for a party. I can however bring the 2 12" or some car 6X9's in boxes and a reciver. It hooks up niceley to my tv that I can bring. I can hook it up to my computer and have some background music if you would like. I think that would be cool. Instead of listening to fans running like crazy. Any way. I dont care eith way. I dont care. I can put all this plus 3 computers and 3 monitors and 3 people all in my escort. I shure wish my jeep whernt in the shop. Or I had a canapoy on my truck. And yah.

Are the X-Boxers going to play in the same room as the PC-ers?
If your music isn't too distracting for the X-boxers, then I'd say bring it, cuz those fans would get annoying. But the X-Boxers will have to be able to hear what's going on as well...

I had a 91 ford escort. The tranney was bad. but we bought if for cheep. Then the motor blew. I managed to get 100 bucks for it. I am driving a 94 ford escort. My sister blew the head gasket. The cd player is an alpine but its old a crap. I have a kenwood kd-222 in my jeep+2 kenwood 6.5 inch speakers+2 alpine 6.5in speakers+2 mtx 10's.

console players will be in the same room as the PC guys. so the less noise the better. There will be some music going during setup and stuff, but really once the party gets going music gets in the way and is annoying.
UB, bring that tv though. Hey stu, do you want to go through this thread, tally everything and post a new one with the results?
