wing commander. Amazing games! I've played almost all of them, and almost all there addons. The movie was gay. Blair had like the power of the swartz or something, and the kilrathi were like shaved apes. It was gay.

In all my research for this subject (10 minutes of internet surfing), I could only find 10 movies based on video games.

There are movies based on the subject of video games (Tron, The Wizard) but they're not based on a particular video game...

The reason Mortal Kombat (the best Video Game movie, IMO) is on the list is because it's one of the 10 movies... and if someone hates it, and wanted to vote for it, then I leave them that choice.

However, I'm going to have to disagree with the Resident Evil thing... that was a scary-bad movie (read: so bad it's scary), and it really bothers me that the guy that directed that is writing/directing the upcoming Aliens vs. Predator movie... uh-oh.

Mortal Kombat sucked. The sets were pretty cool, especially the rickety wooden one, but other than that...:down:

It's not the worst, though...I keep wanting to say Wing Commander, but that wasn't so much of a bad (well, it was a bad film, but not uber-trash) film as it was a urination on all the super-cool source material they had. And the games were stellar, although the FMV stuff was pretty silly.

I can't seem to decide between Super Mario Bros or Street Fighter. Double Dragon is sorta a rogue because I remember seeing it, but don't remember anything about it.

No I believe movie before video game. It was an OS before that though I believe. Now its at least 2 games, an OS (still), and a movie.

edit: oh and it has a soundtrack.

After much deliberation, I have chosen Mario Brothers as the worst video game movie of all time.

Personally, I chose Street Fighter.

Here's why:
Mario Bros., which is definitely a terrible, terrible movie, and one of the worst (if not the worst) video game-to-movie translations ever, actually has many things in common with the game... sorta.

The story is pretty simple: King Koopa kidnaps girl, Mario Bros go to save her... that's the plot of the games. Of course, what they got wrong: King Koopa is a giant lizard-turtle thing in game world, but in movie world he's a humanoid with blonde corn rows. They have Yoshi, ba-bombs, goombas (that are 12 feet tall)... The setting of the film, and the visuals are way off... WAY off... They would have been better in doing an "Alice in Wonderland" type story, instead of the crap they spewed out.

However, Street Fighter abandoned what would normally be a simple plot (in the spirit of Bloodsport, Lionheart, and The Quest... all other Van Damme movies) to make a completey far-fetched M.Bison taking over the world plot... This never sat well with me. There was hardly any "street fighting" in the movie. It was one global army vs. a Hitler like bad guy in M. Bison. The only positive on this movie is the trade mark moves and costumes of the characters... Other than that... oh, man did it suck.

hmmmmmm, tron the movie came out in 82' but the video game in 81', but it says that the game was inspired by the movie.

I haven't seen all those movies, but based on what I've heard (and just how terrible of a choice it is for a game-to-movie) I'd have to go with Mario Bros.

I heard like a year ago that they were making a Deus Ex movie. That could really rock hard if done right. Anybody have any updates?

I've heard nothing...but then again, I'm extremely, extremely skeptical they'd be able to pull it off.

I don't respect most of Hollywood to be able to get past the explosions to look at what Deus Ex is really about...I fear they'd just make another Tomb Raider, except with a genetically augmented hero. =P

kk street fighter was entertaining though.....that had a lot wrong with it like ballrog should have been hanging around vega(the man) and sagot/sagat whatever it is...but instead he hangs out with e honda and chun li ummm not not working the only thing i really thought i stuck to the game even the comics i'll bring up is that sagot and ryu just hate each other (at a point in the movie they did even though sagot started to like him near the middle)also ryu did give him the burn mark on the chest at the end of the movie i think.....i can't really remember that....and vega was cool in it except i'm always pictured vega was a assassin like fighter oppose to the "movie badass with claws)that he was...............but mortal combat 2 annihlation however you spell it is by far the worst i could go on for ever about this movie...like how their are like 3 or 4 barakas in it...the only problem with that is that baraka is a mutant there is on one else that looks like him....and reptile my faverite fighter only helped shao kahn/shang tsung so his people would be let free....so once he died(by that ferrie lui kang) there should have been three more in the next one......anyway i have to say this before i leave....mortal kombat 1 is by far the best video game to movie ever
