OK I'm thinking about buying a used car, but what additional fees aside from the actual cost of the car do I have to pay? I read that you ahve to pay taxes or some BS when buying a used car, and then you have to change the title, etc. etc. WTF man. So how much extra stuff will I need to buy?

There's tax (standard sales tax), Title, adn Licenceing fees. I just bought a kia sportage for $10,000 and it caust me about $1,500 in taxex and fees. If you don't buy from a dealer you might get out of the taxes but I don't think you get out of the fees.

When I transfer the title don't they make you pay em? Also how much were the fees aside from the taxes?
How could I get out of paying the taxes? Lets say I buy the car on ebay or something, do they make you pay them then?

You pay taxes based on the price listed on your bill of sale. You will also have to pay $30 for registering your vehicle. But then you are the "other" fees when buying a car used. Expect to get it tuned up, change the oil, filter, clean/replace the air filter, check the plugs, plug wires and distributor. Usually expect to pay another $500 in misc. fees when you buy a used car. Usually something breaks just after you buy it. If you plan ahead you will be fine.

I mean do I have to pay normal sales tax like 8% of whatever I pay for it?
See I know someone who wants a car and will pay $$$ for it, and I know another someone who will sell it for $$$ - some and I want to buy it for $$$ -some and sell it for $$$ and not have the government f me over. So can I just buy it, have the guy sign off the title, then sell it to this other guy and have him put his signature in the title change form? I mean never register it in my name?
Or register it in my name, but not pay the taxes cause I'm only going to have it for a little while. And also does the government charge you taxes when you sell a car as well?

Not in whatcom county. :D !!!! It vary's depending on what county you live in. Whatcom county, with all the tree huggers and hippies, surprisingly doesn't have any emmisions laws.

No you cant get out of taxes/licencing/fees. You're allready screwing someone out of a cheap car, and now you want to screw the government too?
Call up the DOL and find out, because you cant expect members of a forum to be absolute experts on car taxes/licensing/fees.

Because you're transfering ownership of the car. It's that simple.
I've saved you some time: Here is the phone number to the DOL:
DEPARTMENT OF LICENSING
18205 STATE ROUTE 525
FREELAND, WA
(360) 331-1626
I would also read this if I were you:

Yeah but sales tax cmon, if I'm buying something from another person directly, why the hell should I have to pay the government any money, it has already been payed for, passing it around only switches the division of assets, not totally changing the amount of assets.
I'm not against paying fees and all that, but 2000 dollars worth of tax on a car which has already been taxed is rediculous.
Same sort of thing on that death tax that might be coming back, 50 percent. I mean that is bull.
Well I contacted the DOL and the guy pretty much said "Go ahead, they say your not supposed to but lots of people do it, who cares." As long as you keep it under 5 cars they won't do anything. So

Yeah that blew my mind away when I brought my car here. I was like, "where can I go for a safety inspection and emissions test before registering?" and they're like, "You don't need to either of those things." and then I'm like, "WTF???!!! Seriously? Oxymoron of the year award goes to Whatcom County!"
