Well I installed my A64 mobo yesterday. At first i was impressed. It took only 20 minutes to install WinXP. But thats the last time I was impressed. After getting everyting installed, including nvidia drivers that kept crashing because they didnt like my pci vid card, I am disapointed. First thing I tried was 3dmark03. My scores droped by about 5000 compared to my amd 2500+. And after trying my ram sticks in diferent slots on the MB it was worse than that. So today I try and play some Doom 3. It keeps crashing. It never crashed once on my old setup.

So it looks like I'll be reformating and reinstalling for the second time in the same weekend. The first time I forgot to export my outlook mail and settings.. And I did not have SP1 built into my install disk. So My 250GB drive had to be split into two partitions. This time I'm making a new XP disk with SP1 on it. What a way to blow a weekend.

I could probly call AMD and get something sorted out. But I have a feeling its just the aps or the video drivers are not playing nicely with the atholon 64.

But first I have to get Nero installed. I don't have any of the install disks laying around and the site is downloading at dialup speeds.

I can upload the demo version to my webspace if you want to download that from me. It's only 26mb and will at least get you going on everything.

**scratch that. I just checked and it will take me 25 minutes to upload. If you want I'll do it or send it to you via trillian, but you might already have it by then.**

Thanks, but I'm halfway done now. And I have to move all my files to my second hard drive again. This time I'll get everything done right.

I shouldn't have upgraded I guess. All the hassle and no performance gain. But I guess I will have a nice fast clean install on my new hard drive when its all over. 160GB was just not enough space for me. Now I'll have 370GB. :)
