View Full Version : Thanatos's Donation Fund

Okay, people. As most of you know, Thanatos ran into some bad luck on our recent mid-lan hike and, literally, broke his leg.
He doesn't have insurance, he JUST got his job before this accident, had JUST gotten a car, and in general, the timing on this sucks.
The hospital will rape him up the bum with bills (thank lawyers and insurance), and he'll be unable to work for a couple months, so we're going to start up a donation fund for him.
BLE's goal is to raise $500 over the course of the next 30 days. To help in accomplishing this goal, BLE will donate an initial $100 to kick start the fund. Additionally, we will match half of each outside donation...if you donate $10, we'll donate $5. We'll do this until we reach the goal of $500, or until the 30 days is over.
Donations can be sent via paypal to payment@bellinghamlan.com. If you would like to donate but do not have a paypal account (nor wish to have one) contact me or Ender and we'll see what we can do. Our Paypal account does NOT accept credit card money transfers.
I'll post progress reports on a weekly basis. As of right now, we're 1/5th of the way to our goal.
[edit: Added clarification that BLE won't match 1/2 funds forever as long as we're under $500]

Well jobe if A&W didn't suck so much I'd just stop there and get it from you!!
:p I say that 'cause I've been there twice in the last week and been unhappy about it. ;)
I'm leaving tomorrow night, so if you think you can get the money to me before then then pm me, but if not, just hold on till I get back. :)

I was there for lunch today - I think I saw you in the back but I was in too big a hurry to say anything.
I actually didn't get anything because, 1.) the KFC portion didn't have the Zinger Chicken Sandwiches , and 2.) the bloody check/credit card machines were borked. =/
I went the other day for dessert to get my wife and I Rootbeer floats, and we we paid $2 a float for a whopping one scoop of Ice Cream.

Jeez man, yeah yesterday was a fine day for us cooks, we got to just chill in the back because all of the computers were down, so pretty much we could make chicken at ease. Yeah, I hate that 1 scoop of ice-cream deal, needs to be bigger.
lol @ fear, usually I'm one of the more "senior cooks" there, lol, we got alot of new cooks.

You're a senior cook after working there for like 3 weeks? That's freaking comedy.

I think I'd rather have one "scoop" of ice cream than several scoops worth of soft serve.
But I'd also rather pay $3 and get a REAL float with 2-3 scoops of (presumably) higher quality ice cream.

We could have a fundraiser LAN sometime.... Tell businesses that we're holding a LAN to rasie money to help out an injured guy with no insurance and ask them if they would like to donate prizes.
Just a thought

The fact that fast food workers can be called "cooks" is comedy alone.
No offense, or anything, but.....yea.

Yeah you can delete. Click on edit, then near the top there's a delete check box, and then the button to the right of that.

A similar thing happened to me, i broke my leg in a motorcycle accident, anyway the hospital has a form you can fill out where if you can't pay your hospital bill they will essentially write it off on their taxes (their end is a little more complicated than that but you get what i mean.) it's called a "charity care" form.
it's best to fill it out before your bill goes to collections (but that takes a while) the hospital workers may try to give you the run arond about the paperwork ( they say you have to be collecting unemploment to qualify) which is not true. if they give you hassle ask politely to speak to the head of billing, and he may be able to better clarify....they actually got the debt note on my bill back from the collection agency and pushed it through saving me $3000.00 in actual bills and $2500.00 in interest...but it shouldn't get that far...
Also if it comes down to it D.S.H.S will pay a one time per year major hospital bill for you if you don't have the money. they use the sliding scale healthcare stuff for this and it's actually pretty good insurance... just a fyi hope, this helps -jinx

Thanks for the heads up jinx, I've actualy already got that (at some hospitals it's called the bridge program). There are still some bills but most of it was taken care of.
I apriciate all the support I've gotten from my friends here.
Thank you all.
