First of all, if you don't have it, I've uploaded it to BLE's server and you can download it from right here (http://www.bellinghamlan.com/ut2004beta/ut2004-betademo.exe) (fixed). I think you'll find the download speed pleasing. Please don't distribute that address...it's for BLE members only, and we don't want to have to raise BLE prices to $50 each just to pay for our bandwidth. ;)

I haven't really had a chance to play it much, and only Onslaught, but I'm really impressed...I saw an earlier build of it, and it didn't look like it was shaping up too well at the time. They've done a lot in a few months, and it's looking really amazing.

The vehicles are both frantic and intuitive, and while the balancing seems iffy at a glance, it may turn out to be nicely laid out.

I'm hoping there'll be a bit more complex designs for retail Onslaught maps, and if there's some choosing in terms of what points you want to attack I see some real promise for a fair dose of strategic gameplay. Not a LOT, of course, but... ;).

We've got some pretty cool stuff in the works involving UT2k4, so stay tuned for that. ;)

[edit: Link removed until we can make sure the file works]

My first impressions of it came out well but not perfect. It has a few little things that aren't great like the balance did seem a bit off like was mentioned but still I think it has some major potential.

Yea...it's a short wide button under "Input" towards the top.

Okay... this is pissing me off. It won't install. XP thinks it's a dos program. I get a window that pops up for .3 of a second. I had to use my super fast reaction skills to get a printscreen to read the error. I tried the compatibility thing enabled.. no go!

What's going on here?

XP thinks the install file is a dos program?

Yep

"This program cannot be run in DOS mode"

Sounds like maybe your download or my upload was corrupted?

I'm dowloading it again. This time from Cnet. Hopefully it will work. Otherwise I'll just turn on my Xbox for some UC on Live.

Yea, don't try it from us again...I checked the file sizes and our hosted file is about 2k bytes smaller than how the file shows up on my system. =/

I'll let you know when this gets fixed, until then, I'm taking down the link.

Note: The corrupt file has been replaced with a working copy (http://www.bellinghamlan.com/ut2004beta/ut2004-betademo.exe) :)

damn...played it for about 4 hours tonight!

I'm happy with it. I didn't like Onslaught at first, but I've come to like it a lot. I think it's actually balanced quite well! I don't really like how the vehicles move yet...guess I'm just too used to DC and BF, but I'll get used to it. I'm referring to the camera and how the mouse controls it. Thinking about it, it is superior to DC and BF, but I'm still used to those so I don't quite like it yet. I'm sure I will though. :)

CTF is fun. I like the map it came with. I don't like the TL effects much, but the TL has been improved.

The map for DM is cool too, and I think it's as classic as ever.

Assualt...frickin...rules. Man, they made that mod totally cool. I'm hella diggin it.

All in all I'm happy with it. The shock ball is faster and that=good. The sniper rifle rules! The vehicles are cool, the whole thing is cool.

But then, I was happy with 2k3 when it seemed like the rest of the community wasn't...so I guess I'm easy to please. :)

I played at the Unreal University event, but haven't played the demo. I'm assuming this is what I'll be saying. :)
