So... I *THINK* I have this computer beat! We'll see though in the next few minutes. So the fun thing with XP is that most SATA drives aren't detected during the XP install. So... what has to be done is you have to install 3rd party SATA RAID drivers during the installation. But Microsoft made a big mistake. Most copies of the installation disk do not respond when you press F6 to install the drivers. VERY STUPID MS!!! They fixed it with a service pack, which is pretty much impossible to install if XP won't install. So... I just slipstreamed the SP1a, and recreated the XP disk. With most drivers you can extract them to the install disk, but I'm having problems there. So I just tried the install with the XP disk and this time it gave me an option later to install drivers. Unfortunately I didn't have my floppy hooked up. So now I'm trying again with the floppy hooked up. HOPEFULLY it will work this time. If not I'm back to the drawing board trying to extract the drivers to the installation disk. This has turned out to be the most difficult computer installation I've ever attempted. (I had problems earlier with the bios not responding during POST. Turns out Prescott processors only work with Bios revision 1.4 or later, and I have 1.1. So I slapped in a Northwood so I can get the system going).
Hopefully this computer will be up and running soon!
