I know there has to be some people in here that are into Sci Fi. I'm looking for some new hard sci fi authors. Ive read all the clasics from Clark, Bear, Bova and the other oldies. But does anyone know of any authors that are still writing and have good hard sci fi books out? I want more than an adventure in space. i want an authour that backs up his story with facts and science. I hate it when an author makes something up and just says it was created by an ancient race. I want to know how and why they created it.

So If you know of anything, tell us about it.

Battlefield Earth was a great book. The movie sucked. But if you have never read the book, you should.

Orson Scott Card (Author of Ender's Game) is probably my favorite Sci-fi author, I have also enjoyed novels by John Steakley, my fav is his book called Armor, it has the action associated with a good sci-fi, but what sets it apart is the way the author tells the story through the mind of a man as he goes through all of this war.

Ender's Game rocks. I know this may not be popular, but some of the Star Wars books are pretty good, especially the Rogue Squadron series. Other than that I know this isn't totally space oriented, but, some of the Dune series, by Frank Herbert are awesome. As well as, the new ones by his son Brian Herbert. I'm also a big fan of some of the mechwarrior books. That's MECHWARRIOR not Battletech, Battletech books can get annoying with too much political talk and not enough fighting. Anyway here's my 2cents.

Check out the searies The Dragon Riders of Pern, by Ann McCaffery. it may not seem like it at first but it actually is sci-fi. you have to read several books to get this though.

Here you go.

Orson Scott Card--Ender's Game only however, rest kinda suck, although Ender's Shadow is pretty good. (Must read Ender's game first)
THE DUNE SERIES-OMG this is a good series, read them if you want some good sci-fi.
Isaac Asimov-Probably the most well-known of the Sci-fi writers, I find him to be pretty good.

Ummm soem others will come to me later, but that should keep you busy.

OMG just remembered. DOUGLAS ADAMS. Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series. One of the best series ever written. Semi-sci-fi, semi-comedy. AWESOME books. Either you love them, or you hate them. I love em.

Ummm. For really new books, I thought that The Sparrow was pretty good. Sadistic in places, but overall pretty good.

Maybe I should have wrote this.

Looking for NEW Sci Fi authors.

That does not include books that are 20 years old.

Thank you, have a nice day. :)

I gave you a new one! And I also thought I'd list some good sci-fi in case you haven't read them. The old is probably better than any of the new stuff. If you have read all of em, then you should be looking for new, but if not then read the old.

OKOKOK, I think this guy is newer:

Timothy Zahn, author of the Icarus Hunt

or

Chris Bunch, author of Star Risk Ltd., there is a sequel to this book, havent read it yet, but enjoyed the first one.

or

Have you ever read the StarFist series? By David Sherman and Dan Cragg, KICK ASS series, about Marines in the 25th Century

Noooo Timothy Zahn has been around forever... he has done several sci-fi books and then like 20 for the Star Wars series... which by the way were totally awesome, until the new ones with those dratted Yuzhan Vong came out... those were just lame.

Hey, if you are interested in any of those books, lemme know, I have all of them, 'cept the second Star Risk, the StarFist series has over 7 books in it, so it is a good time spender :D

My favorite sci-fi author is Michael Crichton.

Jurassic Park, Sphere, Congo, Prey, Airframe, The Terminal Man, etc, etc... Good stuff. Not new, but good.
