The star is like one of those little tufts of bad thoughts that rises from cartoon characters that are mad. :)

peoples I have to say so far I'm loving W2k3 as a desktop. Stoof just seems faster, plus it has fabulas built in security, I can use it to run DHCP, DNS or whatever I need, I can remote manage it from a webpage, I can have my own email, and I can have it send me emails to tell me how its doing when I'm not around. now I just have to figure out how to do most of the stuff listed there :)

so how much did you shell out for it. (and do you have any leftover licences that I could have?)

So Dan did you uninstall XP and install 2k3, or are you running a virtual desktop?

AMD's run at a lower clock speed. DUH! 2500 is just an indicator that it compares to a 2.5ghz pentium.

didn't shell out anything. A box from MS showed up on my doorstep one day and it contained Server 2k3 with 5 cals, and some office junk. It has a DVD and cd install both with there own cd keys so I may have an extra one, but I'm not sure yet.

Jon, its the real deal. reformat and stoof. Very much cooler then xp's blueish purpleish stoof, and way more powerfull. May end up sucking though. to early to tell.

no I mean the logon, logoff things. Like you select restart and the box pops up after your desktop closes saying "closing network connections" and the like. That stuff is now a dark grey with no visual styles. Plus the loading screen says Windows Server 2003 all in one line and looks pretty rad

itsmee it's also more stable and more secure. (they turn shit off by default) I've been running it for a year and I think I would actually pay for something like this. (as opposed to paying for xp or 98)

1.84 is stock for the 2500+

lol Dan, the 2500+ sucks. :P

I used 2k3 server last year, and I hated it.

Try installing anti-virii and other choice type applications. You have to bust your ass to find server versions because they wont let you install them.

It's beautiful! The single downpoint that I can find is that all those extra apps that it installs takes up over 550 mb RAM! But even with all that RAM being used, games are still running faster, and my ping has been lowered in most servers by 10-20! Overall, I LUB 2003

I'm usuing 300mbs of my 1gb, I think u have some stoof like pop and dns or something setup and running. The thing to do is not do the continue setup deal.

as for antivi, I gotta try it, I don't have any installed, and that could be bad for the lan.

itsmeee: run windows update and get all of the fixes if you havn't allready. win2k3 is vulnerable to many of the viruses that win2k is vulnerable to. although some just crash your system instead.

yeah I did that right away.
