I need two posts to post both of the thingies.
Anyway, the first d/l is a timeline and the second is an outline of the prologue of a novel I intend to write. I just wanted some early feedback.
This is fantasy writing, so there's a bunch of made up names and a bit of magic. If that's not your thing, then feel free to give feedback, but you've been warned.

I do this thing. When I pick up a book in a store I look at the first few pages. If the author has made up a bunch of names that are nearly impossible for me to pronounce. I wont buy it. It annoys the crap out of me.
In yours, I noticed there are tons of made up names that I cannot relate to at all. It’s very distracting.

Hmm... yeah... but that does kinda go with the territory of writing fantasy. And I don't want to use a bunch of modern terms.
But thanks for reading anyway! :rup:
You also reminded me that I need to edit my first post to say that it's fantasy genre. ^_^

Fantasy and Sci-Fi is all that I read. There are many good authors that do not resort to outlandish names.

Oh. In that case, wanna help me with the names? I don't really like them much either, and I want to change them.
Although, the character names are (mostly) real names from other languages, taken from www.behindthename.com. And I like most of the character names. >_>

It looks like you have a decent outline/timeline for a story...now write the story :)
It doesnt have to start from the beginning either, you can start from the middle and go back to the beginning if you can't think on how to start it.
My brother is also writing a fantasy novel and I've proofread his twice already :P

Yeah, I've been thinking about the best place to start it. But I want to include all of the details in the prologue and stuff. I'll cointinue to outline it and post the finished outline when I'm done.

Yes it is. But not every name in the Dark Elf series was. A few here and there is not bad. But when every single character and location is outlandish and hard to prounounce, its diferent. I read entire novels in a day sometimes. I read fast. When all the names are long, outlandish, hard to prounounce etc. I start to skip over them as I read. They slow me down and iritate me. If a book iritates you, you will not recomend it to others. And word of mouth is a great form of advertisement.
He asked for feedback. I gave my honest opinion. And I know I may not feel the same as most people.

don't get bogged down by details...just write it! hehe, it should flow from thy brain as a brook frothing its way down the side of a mountain.

I don't like "Energon", I'm sure you can pick a better name than that.
Try this approach to your novel: write each chapter as a short story. If you wish to publish this novel, try publishing each chapter a short story, while trying to publish the novel itself. You're more likely to succeed that way.
A novel is a tall order, as you're going to find out. I suggest you enroll in a workshop class for novel writing. There, you'll have a group of hopeful novelists helping you mold your story and make it more sound.
If the story sounds really good to you, it doesn't mean that an average reader is going to enjoy it. Workshop classes will definitely help you out there, trust me.

I was thinking of just calling it "Chaos", by the way... I dunno. None of these names are by any means final, except for some of the character names.
