oks, today was the worst day in recent memory, except for seeing nate's new born ;)

so was hanging out with some friends around 9ish. jump in my car, just start driving around, really going no where. we decided to go over to a friend's house and pull a wik'd prank, but when we get there he's working on something with his dad, and it blows over.

just kinda drive around to friends houses for no reason, then we start back to drop everyone off. then bang, there is a cop sitting in the middle of the road.

we got SO nailed.

no one in the back seat (4 of them) was wearing their seat belt and i had been going 50 in a 35.

i got a ticket for $223 (speeding + a minor not wearing a seat belt)
the 3 friends got $101 fines

right now i feel like crap and will be spending the next couple months paying everyone back by donating plasma.

Paying back whom?

If they were they ones not wise enough to buckle up, shouldn't the fault be their own?

If seatbelts were unavailable for these passengers, then I can respect your guilt, but then again, they knowingly took the risk.

But, that does suck. Bad luck, man. Bad luck.

yeah, but the cause of it was my going 50 in a 35
also some of my peps don't have the resources to pay the fine :(

They have parents. They can get their tickets mitigated.

Oh yeah, get the ticket deffered. You go to court, plead insanity.. umm.. or something, they put you on probation. If you don't get any tickets in a year, this ticket won't go on your record. BUT... I don't quite know if you have to have your license for a certain amount of time before you can do this.

Poor ghrog :<

That sucks maj00r @$$463

I dont think you should have to pay of your friends fines, the fines are on THEM not you, and as previously posted, they have funding, its called parental units!

Isn't there a law where you have to have so many hours behind the wheel solo, or your license for at least 6 months, before you can drive with people in the car that are under 18???

This came into effect long after I got my license, so I'm not sure of the details...

Just take it to court, the speeding will easily be lowered in price, and the seatbelt thing will probably get dismissed, just say that you were unaware they didnt have them on or something...most judges are lenient *Trust me, I know* Dont do the deferred thingy, its not worth it unless you REALLY screwed up. And for your friends, have them go to court, and it will either get dismissed, or lowered, depending...

Judges are usually very sympathetic if you're honest with them. Throw yourself on the mercy of the court, so to speak. Tell them the truth, and they'll usually cut you some slack. If you try to fool them, or if they think you're misleading them, they'll bring the hammer down on you, so just be honest.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I went to court for a series of tickets:
-- Parking overnight ($20)
-- Parking overnight #2 ($20)
-- Parking overnight #3 ($20)
-- Parking backed in on a street ($15)

I went to the courtroom, and talked to the judge. I told her how my car had died (blew the transmission) and that was the nearest available parking spot, and that backing it in was really our only option, since we had to push it up hill.

I told her that I was unaware that backing in to a spot was illegal (truth) and that the overnight thing was because it was a weekend, and we had to wait for businesses to open on Monday to get it towed.

She dropped all the tickets except for one overnight parking, and lowered that one to $10.00.

Yeah being honest to judges cuts you a shitload of slack. Works on cops too. I am not as ignorant in this as I would like to be :(

DONT LIE.
