February's LAN will be somewhat different from the past LANs, and so to commemorate, celebrate, and c---announce this party, I was thinking of making a flyer different, more creative, and better structured than our previous ones!

If you think you can make a good flyer, let us know by making it and attaching it in this thread! (Note, please make it a .txt attachment, and show a screen shot of what it would look like in Microsoft Word)

In a week we'll organize the entries and vote on which one should be used to put up around town! :woot:

You can use any information about the FEB LAN that you can find on the site, as well as our logo etc. Make sure that is will also look decent and presentable in Black and White should you decide to add a lot of color. Don't make any claims or add anything to it that isn't true and that sort of thing. Use common sense. :)

hrmm...I would, but when I reformatted before this last party, I didn't save the file. :(
Basically, it had our logo across the top, and then it had the date, location, and price information each on a separate line, centered. Then it split into two colums, one listing PC games played, and one highlighting Xbox stuff. Then centered again was a list of tournaments and prizes, with the website and my email addy at the very bottom.

It served the purpose fine, but it just seemed......a little generic. Plus, I've used that format 4 times now, so I'd like to try something different.

:shrug: That help at all?

I think a chicken sandwich could be in order...but otherwise, if the members of the site votes your flyer the winner, then you get the satisfaction of having it plastered all over town! :)

Photoshop 7. Its based on a pic I made a while ago which was inspired by a dell background. You can view my previous one here (http://www.techimo.com/photo/showphoto.php?photo=3644&password=&sort=1&cat=500&page=2).

Its just a matter of layring, transparancy and...stuff...like that...n stuff...

Since this contest is getting thrown together as it goes....

Only 3 entries per person...if we get a plethora of entries, then that will be set to 1 entry per person, and those that previously had 3 will have to choose 1 of their three.

This contest is open to all members! Deadline is this thursday! or friday...mebbe saturday. :) The voting process will be done by Feb 14 and then the following Monday the flyers will permeate throughout the city! bwuahahah!

Hrmm...anymore rules? Can't think of any atm...I'm sure they'll come up. :D

One thing you guys may want to consider for flyers is simplicity. While its nice to have all that information on there, it looks like about an 8 1/2 x 11 page with quite a bit of reading to it for the guy who just happens to see it posted on a bulletin board at the bagel shop.

I'd say the pertinent info is - Logo (large), date / time of party, website (medium size), email / phone number (medium size), and a small blurb like.... COME GET YER ASS HANDED TO YOU AT BELLINGHAM'S PREMIER LAN PARTY or something similarly witty / comical ( not that I'm funny in any way, but, you know, I try :p ).

While I see the need for the logo, I think its more important to get the type of event in the largest print. The average gamer has no idea what BLE is. But If he sees "LAN Party" from across the room he might be more inclined to go read the rest.

Pyro - wait a bit more for the members of the forum to vote the best flyer and the winner wins a power supply from Seasonic! :woot: We need more entries so it's not just between itsmee and excessive (though I'm sure they don't mind). Once everyone's voted the winner, I'll post a thread about it and you can download and print off that one. And don't worry, it'll all be done well in time for the next LAN. :) In the meantime, just tell 'em to come to the website. ;)

weee!! If I win were going to this really good resturant I know down in Coranado. They serve like these taquitos and chimichaungas to die for man! That is if your driving as well...you are driving...right? And hey if we do that maybe I could pay for us getting a chicken sandwich for dinner.
